Seller Hub Reports: Multiple variant offers in one file – 21916639 / 21916664 (Parent/Child wi
Summary: The discussion revolves around resolving issues related to handling multiple variant offers in a single file, specifically focusing on parent/child configurations for a seller hub report. Participants appear to be troubleshooting or seeking clarification on a specific technical process regarding this issue.
Hello everyone,
I use Seller Hub Reports (upload templates / File Exchange) for new fixed-price listings with variations (Multi‑SKU).
Goal: Create several separate variation listings in one upload file (i.e. 2× parent + the respective child rows underneath) to save time.
What works:
- Multiple single listings without variations in one CSV file → upload works (only warnings about Business Policies).
Result: 2 listings are created, 2 ItemIDs in the report.
What does NOT work:
- Multiple variation listings (parent/variation) in one file (tested with XLSX and CSV) → upload fails.
- Report shows errors: 21916664 | 21916639
“The entered variation specifics do not match … / The variation-specific value used for pictures ‘DX4941 – …’ is not present in the variation-specific set”
In this case, the row (CustomLabel) refers to the first parent (e.g. DX4931), but the error names a variation designation from the second parent (e.g. DX4941).
It seems as if eBay, during upload, correctly processes only the first variation block and incorrectly assigns the second parent block to the first listing.
Questions:
- Is there a known limitation that only one variation listing is allowed per upload file?
- If it is possible: Which columns/fields must be set so that eBay cleanly separates multiple parent/child blocks? (e.g. Relationship / Relationship details / Item photo URL / Custom label etc.)
- Is there a recommended alternative (e.g. feed/API) if you want to upload many variation listings in a batch?
I can upload the reports/sample file (CSV) and the error report if that helps.
Thank you very much!

OP2 months agoThanks for the heads-up!
That should actually be there – it may no longer be visible in one place, or something may have changed.
I’ll check the cancellation policy, model cancellation form, and privacy policy in my settings/listings right away and add or link them correctly if anything is missing.
As for the original topic (multiple variant listings in one upload file / error 21916639), I’m waiting for feedback from nina@ebay. Thanks!

Mentor2 months agoI think this topic is also a challenge for eBay employees and can't be answered off the cuff in a flash.
@nina@ebay may need to check with the relevant colleagues.

Mentor2 months ago@polsterstoffe-meterware Hey. 🙂 I’ve already forwarded the whole thing to our specialist department. As soon as we have a response, we’ll of course share it with you here right away.
@perfect-sally Thanks a lot for the tag. ❤️
Best regards,

Hello @polsterstoffe-meterware! We looked into it and the structure of your file isn’t correct. You’re already making variant specifications in the first line, and that’s not right.
I sent you more details by email and hope that this helps you move forward 🙂.
Best regards
Miriam

OP2 months agoHello Mitiam
Which email address did it go to? Could you tell me where it originated? 🙂

Hello @polsterstoffe-meterware - to the email address stored in the eBay account 🙂.

OP2 months agoHello Miriam,
many thanks for your notes (Relationship in the article line empty).
I tested again: ebay_DX3100_batches53-54_HANDBOOK_2PARENT_TEST.csv
– two blocks (Retro-53: DX3620–DX3629, Retro-54: DX3630–DX3639), each Add with empty F and color list in G.
Upload report:
• Line 2: Failure 21919067 – Retro-53 already live (Item-ID 358631011376)
• Line 13: Failure 21919067 – Retro-54 already live (Item-ID 358631011699)
• No error 21916639 (previously with F="Parent" and two blocks)
It looks like eBay recognizes both offers separately; only the duplicate rule is triggering.
Could you please tell me where I can send the CSV for manual review? In the community dialog I can’t attach an Excel file – is CSV by email reply to your message enough?
Thank you very much!

Hello @polsterstoffe-meterware and thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, I can’t offer you a manual review of the CSV file. Support for File-Exchange/CSV templates is provided via the corresponding API or developer documentation. You can find more information on the eBay developer page.
Please take another close look at the reference available to you, especially. It shows the structure of a variation listing. You can also clearly see how the first column is used differently and how to handle the Custom Labels.
In principle, the following applies to variation listings:
The documents include a complete example that is well suited as a guide for the file structure.
All the best for your next steps and kind regards
Miriam

OP2 months agoHello
quick update: We implemented and tested the structure from the reference (variant offer).
Our solution:
Tests (File Exchange):
Previously, a test with F = „Parent“ in the Add row failed (21916639); with empty F it works.
Thanks very much for the tip about the reference — that was the key point.
Best regards

Mentor2 months agoThis is very specific, so we’ll ask an ebay employee whether she can help.
@nina@ebay could you take a look please? Thanks 🙂

I don’t see any cancellation policy or model cancellation form on your end, where they actually belong. Where did you hide them?
And where is your privacy policy?
