Summary: annelie.2691 had a problem with a purchase from a seller on eBay, where eBay mistakenly canceled two purchases and blocked his account for bidding purchases. He had arranged a clarification with eBay, which promised to unblock the account within 24 to 48 hours, but that did not happen. perfect-sally explained that problems can arise for sellers when unpaid items are canceled. alena@ebay finally shared that annelie.2691's account has been reactivated.
I placed bids on and bought goods from a seller and agreed with him on a combined purchase to reduce the shipping costs. Ebay then canceled my purchases twice within 2 days without being prompted to do so by the seller; he was just as horrified as I was. The purchases were then relisted as Buy It Now items and I was able to receive the items. My account has been blocked for bidding purchases ever since. On 10/08 I clarified the situation with a phone call to eBay and was assured that my account would be unblocked within 24 to 48 hours. To this day, that has not happened. What can I do?

MentorAug 18, 2026 at 10:09 AMHello @annelie.2691 your account has just been reactivated. You can bid normally here again. Whether the seller’s setting was in place the whole time or was added later, allowing you to collect from them, we can’t tell.

OP3 weeks agoMany thanks for the quick solution to the problem. I'm glad I can bid again now. I'm already 77 and have difficulty walking, so shopping with eBay is so important to me. Wishing you a lovely time, Anna

MentorAug 18, 2026 at 9:06 AMThe problem is that when sellers allow collection, unfortunately they don’t keep their own settings under control, and unpaid items are canceled after 4 days and the buyer gets a non-paying bidder entry for each unpaid item. From 2 entries, most sellers completely block you and you can neither bid nor buy it now.
You can thank your seller for these problems.
