Brother toner in the original box doesn't fit, return or complaint, warranty or legal guarantee
Summary: sirtom64 purchased a Brother toner in January 2026, but recently found it didn't fit their printer. perfect-sally suggested that all return deadlines had passed, and recommended dealing directly with the seller or reselling the toner. sirtom64 expressed frustration with the seller's lack of response and questioned the authenticity of the toner, mentioning a potential production error or counterfeit issue. They also highlighted issues with larger companies' customer service and are considering addressing the problem with the manufacturer. voli-maus suggested checking the product fit promptly after delivery and inquired if the seller was based in Germany.

The other day, the printer's MFC L2700DN toner was empty and I wanted to replace the toner, but unfortunately this one doesn't fit mechanically.

Mentor1 month agoWell, all the deadlines have passed and ebay or the payment service provider can't help.
Sort that out with the seller or resell the parts.

OP1 month ago..maybe Ebay can also help with the communication with the seller, who after 5 days has shown no signs of responding to it.
There is already a ticket about this, an employee who helps and doesn’t hide behind deadlines
After all, it says Ebay lives from satisfied customers. And reselling parts that don’t fit is not my style. Then the hassle just continues. And to claim you can’t help just because deadlines have passed is just taking the easy way out.
There’s still the warranty or guarantee on products; what matters more is the question why there was a non-matching toner in a Brother original package that was sealed in aluminum packaging like the original.
Production defect, counterfeit — that needs to be filtered out in order to protect other buyers from this in future
Thank God there are still sellers who help honest buyers and don’t leave them to deal with their problems, but the bigger the companies get, the more often there are just call center employees sitting there who work strictly by the rules and aren’t allowed to take any responsibility.
If you look at the seller’s few negative reviews, this has happened before, the same case, and the buyer apparently got their money back. Back then there were also problems with communication.
Thanks for any support. Otherwise there’s still the route to the manufacturer to have it checked. If not, off with it into the recycling bin, and don’t buy anything like that on Ebay anymore, because of the deadlines !

That’s true, but for the warranty the seller is responsible, and for the guarantee the manufacturer.
Both are consumer rights that the platforms wouldn’t have to enforce, but rather the buyer themselves.
And if an eBay employee promises you help, then you shouldn’t rely too much on anything actually coming of it.
More than messaging the seller isn’t possible, and if they don’t get back to you, that’s that from this side.
And legally, I don’t think there’s anything left to do either, since the purchase was simply too long ago and it wasn’t claimed right away for the known reason.

Mentor1 month agoHello @sirtom64 ,
I myself check after receiving an item whether it fits.
I don’t always do that on the same day I receive the item.
I can also do that two or three days after receiving the item.
The seller is based in Germany?
