Complete sales outage since the update (11/09) – who else is affected?
Summary: artshirt24 reports a drastic drop in sales on eBay since a major update. Customer service sees no connection, but artshirt24 expresses doubts because of comments from support about problems in the US. perfect-sally is critical of the reliability of the information and points to ongoing problems at eBay. Both discuss possible technical errors as the cause, since perfect-sally has also noticed declines since the update.
Hello everyone,
I’ve been active on eBay for over 26 years, 20 of them as a business seller. In a quarter of a century, I’ve never experienced a scenario like this: since last Friday, my sales have suddenly dropped to exactly €0.00 — and this situation has remained unchanged up to today (Wednesday).
Since this drop coincides exactly with the major eBay update from last Friday, I suspect there’s a technical cause behind it. So far, though, customer service doesn’t see any connection.
To rule out my own technical errors or display bugs, I’d like to ask around: is anyone else experiencing this right now?
I’d appreciate any replies and insights from your experience.
Best regards
Marc

Mentor3 weeks agoHow do you know about a "big ebay update"? I don't know that, for one, and I think ebay definitely won't make a big fuss about it when there are updates.
Yes, Fridays are craft day, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with updates.

OP3 weeks agoI spoke with eBay support, and they told me that there was a huge update on the US side and that it also caused massive problems there (e.g. display and calculation errors with periods and commas). I have also rarely experienced having to wait 30 minutes for a callback. Usually 3-5 minutes or 10 minutes if it's really busy. And according to eBay support, "their place is on fire right now" ... but my "problem" isn't being seen in that context ...

Mentor3 weeks agoSo you shouldn’t believe everything the phone support people say anyway, they quite like telling users what they want to hear.
And on eBay there have definitely been some problems since before September 11, and many of them still haven’t been solved to this day. Not nice at all for us commercial sellers, because after all we’re the ones bringing in the money and the ones who have to pay the fees.
The thing with the callbacks has apparently been going on for quite a while too, and sometimes they don’t call back at all.
And that eBay doesn’t see any connection doesn’t surprise me at all; they would never admit it anyway.

OP3 weeks agoExactly! And because I’ve also had my own experiences with eBay and their customer service over the last quarter century, I want to make sure here whether some people feel the same way. It doesn’t necessarily have to affect all accounts. But then at least I’d know whether it’s a technical error or whether the ever-declining sales on eBay are now in the endgame.

Mentor3 weeks agoSo my last sale was also on September 11, but in general there’s not much going on on eBay anymore.

OP3 weeks agoThat would fit! Usually I sell a dozen items per day...
