Wrongfully cancelled auction
Summary: j.b.helix-roveda reports on an auction that a seller improperly cancelled, even though they were the highest bidder, which, according to them, constitutes a purchase contract. They are frustrated by the lack of support from the platform and are asking for advice on how they could get the seller’s contact details in order to take legal action without having to sue eBay. perfect-sally recommends looking for contact options via customer service and the legal notice.
Hi there,
a seller unlawfully canceled an auction where I was the highest bidder. According to established case law since at least 2014, this means a purchase contract has come into existence between him and me for my highest bid. Naturally, the guy no longer responds. Since this stupid eBay system offers not the slightest bit of help and this stupid AI assistant is completely useless, I’m asking about a way to contact eBay that isn’t openly disclosed by eBay, in order to get the seller’s name and address and take him to court. I’m very sure I’m not the first and only one with this problem, and that there is a solution for it that is less cumbersome than suing eBay to hand over this information.
Regards, M.

Mentor2 weeks agoTag @j.b.helix-roveda there is no other solution, ebay is obliged to give you the seller's data, because you have a legitimate interest and want to sue the seller for performance of the purchase contract.
Who else should get you this address if not ebay, where he registered properly?
In the legal notice you will find an email address, the postal address and a phone number, so contact ebay and request the data.

The legal notice actually lists all contact options.
