Unjustified deletion of negative reviews
Summary: encantobosque reports on the deletion of her negative reviews for two seller accounts that may belong to the same Chinese seller. She expresses dissatisfaction with the sellers’ actions and refund processes. bootyooty explains that the reasons for the deletion are unclear, while perfect-sally points out that reviews containing certain words like ‘fraud’ can be removed by the platform. encantobosque asks for more detailed explanations of these policies.
Hello,
I have now noticed within a short time that my negative feedback for two different seller accounts, behind which there apparently is just one and the same Chinese seller, is simply being deleted. I did not write any insults, and in the reviews I described my dissatisfaction with the respective process, which can also be verified according to the respective chat. For example, among other things, the seller’s suggestion that an incorrect item can be kept if you buy the actually purchased item again at a lower price, even though I explicitly asked for a return label and reshipment of the correct item, or similar facts.
Why does eBay delete these reviews, or allow them to be deleted??? The fact that I eventually got a refund does not mean that I can recommend this seller to others, if it took two weeks beforehand until the seller fixed his mistake of the wrongly delivered item after a long back and forth.
Accordingly, you can just as well do away with the entire rating system, because it is not trustworthy at all if the “unpleasant” actions by sellers can simply be erased .....

Mentor2 weeks agoIf you look at the negative ratings you gave in the past, one or two of those ratings back then already seem to have violated the basic principles.
And if you rated the same way and the seller complains, then it gets deleted.

Mentor2 weeks agoThere are words that ebay really doesn't want to see in a review, such as Warning!, scam, fraudster... etc.

"Why does eBay delete these reviews, or rather, allow them to be deleted"
No one here can answer that question for you, because neither the exact wording is known, nor whether other aspects played a role in the deletion.
