Seller refunds item from auction.
Summary: revenanthunter86 reports that they bought a Hobbit Collector Booster Box for around €600, but the seller refunded the order after the box wasn’t delivered. Now the boxes are more expensive, and revenanthunter86 feels let down. They ask whether there is any way to sort out the situation, since automated support only refers them back to the refund. perfect-sally advises using every available means and legal steps, but without support from eBay.
Good day, community, I bought a Hobbit Collector Booster Box for about €600 (eng.) some time ago at auction. Unfortunately, the seller did not receive it, and at my request to get me a replacement box, they refunded the order without asking.
Now the boxes are more expensive and, of course, I’m left looking stupid. (Apart from the fact that it annoys me how they’re dodging responsibility like this, hoping to make a profit above MSRP but then trying to weasel out of potential losses by getting a replacement.)
The excellent A.I. support tells me, like in the manta ray meme, only that my refund has already been issued. Is there really nothing I can do here?

Mentor1 week agoGood day @revenanthunter86 buyer protection is there to compensate the buyer again via a refund for items not received or items that differ.
To receive an item, eBay is not responsible for that, because you have the purchase contract with the seller, not eBay.
Under private law, all options are therefore open to you.
Items made to order are also subject to strict regulations; for example, they must be shipped 40 business days after purchase.
Policy on delivery times etc.
If a seller violates this, you can only report them to eBay.

Sure, you can use all the means and legal remedies available to you. However, ebay won’t help with that.
