Seller deleted shortly after purchase
Summary: mallen-55 reports that the seller was deleted shortly after her purchase, making it impossible to contact them. She canceled the order because there was no shipping information and the situation felt uncertain. perfect-sally explains that eBay does not intervene in transactions on its own, and that mallen-55 has to wait until the delivery date has passed before filing a buyer protection claim. mallen-55 thanks them for the quick response.
Shortly after my purchase, the seller was deleted - so I can no longer get in touch with them. Ebay writes: the purchase can possibly still be processed. If the goods do not arrive, I can request a refund. Since that seemed too uncertain to me and no shipping information had been provided yet, I canceled the order
Has anyone had experience with this? Will I get my payment back? Getting in touch with the seller is no longer possible since they no longer exist

Mentor3 weeks agoWho do you want to cancel a purchase with if the seller on eBay no longer exists?
You should have listened to eBay and not acted too hastily.
Now you have to wait until the delivery date has passed, and then you can report an item not received.

OP3 weeks agoWas that premature? Could eBay - I assume there is a reason for the deletion - not have been able to cancel the purchase directly? So I neither gained nor lost anything with the cancellation and now have to wait until the end of the delivery period? Do I then need to initiate another process? Regarding the refund?

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedEbay does not cancel purchases and does not get involved in transactions between buyer and seller unless it is asked to do so.
And eBay apparently writes:.....can possibly be processed. Why should eBay intervene now?
You have buyer protection and will get your money back, but now you have to wait for eBay until the delivery date has passed.
