Seller refuses to accept the return of an item within the cancellation period
I bought an item from a commercial seller that arrived late and that I no longer need. I therefore want to make use of my right of withdrawal. The seller is refusing to take it back, the case is closed. How can I request buyer protection? I can’t find a way to do it. Ebay says appeal is not possible. The AI doesn’t understand my problem.

it's a shame that your seller hasn't gotten in touch with you yet.
I’ve just initiated the refund to you. The amount will be with you shortly. Please keep the item for now in case your seller still wants it back. In that case, they’ll also need to take care of the return shipping.

I have revised the return and your seller now has 5 days from today to provide you with a label for the return.
Please make sure to choose a suitable return reason next time, then the seller won't be able to simply رفض the return.

And there are also definitely items that are excluded from returns.

OPAug 17, 2026 at 5:20 PMThe item is not one of the excluded items. And I had thought until now that eBay Buyer Protection also applies to a refused return. If that is not the case, I won't buy anything from commercial sellers on eBay anymore. Lesson learned.

MentorAug 17, 2026 at 5:34 PMeBay Buyer Protection covers most transactions on eBay. This means that buyers can get their money back through eBay Buyer Protection if an item doesn't arrive, is faulty or damaged, or doesn't match the listing.
And if this applies to the item and you accordingly open a return within the Buyer Protection period with the correct reason, then Buyer Protection also applies.
And it makes absolutely no difference whether it’s a business or private seller.
