Seller no longer on eBay - warranty worthless?
Hello,
this is about a 48V LiFePO4 battery pack of Chinese origin for a golf caddy, bought from a commercial dealer in Germany less than 6 months ago.
The battery pack can no longer be charged after about 10 cycles. Now the seller can no longer be found....

Mentor6 days agoSellers do not provide any warranty. If there are warranties, then they come from the manufacturer.
You have to enforce your consumer rights yourself, eBay won’t help and all deadlines with eBay and the payment service provider have already expired.

OP5 days ago · EditedIn that case, the seller is probably the same as the manufacturer, or the goods were shipped from an EU warehouse of the Chinese manufacturer.

Mentor5 days agoSomething like a warranty doesn't exist with the Chinese, nor do consumer rights.
As written, you'd have to try to enforce that yourself.

Mentor5 days ago@hanss2363 even if the shipping was from Germany, the seller is guaranteed to have his headquarters and production in China, so you’d have to sue there, which nobody does, far too time- and cost-intensive and with hardly any chance of success.

OP5 days agoFor small things like USB charging plugs or cables, I’ve definitely successfully made complaints on AliExpress and got my money back, but here it’s about more

Mentor5 days agoYour account does not show any activity that is visible to me either; there’s nothing to see that’s 100%… did you buy with this account or with another one, or as a guest?
How was it paid for, PayPal? There you can open a case up to 180 days after payment, eBay can’t do anything, buyer protection on eBay has long since expired, sending a message won’t work if he’s no longer signed in, and rights like warranty have to be enforced by consumers themselves.

OP5 days agoWent through my brother's account, paid with PayPal. My question with PayPal is whether the protection only covers the actual purchase process, I don't have any experience with that

Mentor5 days agoGood question, your brother should contact customer service by phone as soon as possible, the case should then be opened item not as described
