Seller does not want to cover shipping costs
Summary: greywing86 reports that they do not want to keep the purchased robot vacuum because of dirty conditions and an unpleasant cigarette smell. However, the seller refuses to cover the return shipping costs, even though the device was not as described. perfect-sally advises updating the return reason so that the seller covers the shipping costs, and has contacted an eBay employee to review it. greywing86 says they started the return process incorrectly and thanks them for the support.
Hello, I hope someone can help me here. I bought item 128002601460, a robot vacuum cleaner. I knew that with used goods, in this case the dust bag might already have been used or the water tank might not be completely dry. Unfortunately, in this case, when I wanted to set up the charging station, a cigarette filter and a shard of glass came out at me first. The wastewater container also smelled of cold cigarette smoke. Since I am a non-smoker and have small children, I definitely did not want to keep the device like this. But the seller does not want to reimburse the return shipping costs. In my opinion, you just can’t sell goods like that. Also, the package is very heavy and has to be sent to Poland. So the return shipping costs are almost €30.
What can I do?

Mentor1 month agoHello @greywing86 , thanks a lot for your post. As I can see, you have opened a withdrawal here, not a complaint ("Item is no longer needed" instead of "Item not as described"). In this case, of course you can also send the item back to the seller, but at your own expense.
@perfect-sally thanks a lot for the tag.
Best regards
Elke

Mentor1 month agoHave you already opened a return? If yes, the reason must be that the item is not as described, and then the seller pays the shipping costs. However, he can’t do that through eBay and possibly, if he’s based in Poland, he can’t issue a return label either, but that’s his problem.
If you only cancelled the purchase, then you pay the return shipping and that can no longer be changed.
If you please provide the item number, we’ll have an eBay employee take a look at it, she’ll get back here.
Hello @elke@ebay could you please take a look? Thanks a lot

OP1 month agoUnfortunately I opened it the wrong way when returning it. The item number is above. Thanks in advance

Mentor1 month agoHow was it set up wrong? Do you mean a wrong reason was given? That actually can’t be changed anymore.
Best to wait until Elke gets in touch; she has access to the case.
Thanks, I had overlooked the item number.
