I want to address the growing issue of seller-side cancellations after auctions have ended. Apparently, sellers are able to cancel completed auctions unilaterally as soon as they don’t like the price achieved – and this without any apparent consequences from eBay.Just last week alone, I experienced two cases:Case 1: I won a tablet computer in a regular auction. After the auction ended, the seller simply canceled the purchase – with the openly stated reason in a message that the price achieved was too low for him. eBay still labeled this cancellation as “initiated by the buyer.” That is not only a distortion of the facts, but also highly dubious.Case 2: I bought a smartphone, arranged for pickup, and the seller initially confirmed it. After that, however, he refused to make any appointment and completely stopped communicating – in effect, a violation of the concluded purchase agreement.I have absolutely no understanding for such behavior and do not understand why Ebay tolerates this kind of conduct unchecked. As a buyer, you are left to bear the damage, while the sellers evade their obligations. The fact that the purchase money will eventually be refunded is hardly any consolation in this respect .I am left with the lost time and am now driving to a birthday party without a gift.Are you supposed to put up with that?
