Extension of auctions by sellers
Summary: 2012-roesle reported a frustrating experience in which a seller extended the auction time by 2.5 days. This led to uncertainty about withdrawing the bid and entering the item number on eBay. perfect-sally disagreed, explaining that auctions with bids already placed cannot be changed while they are running, and that there are no half days. The discussion focused on similar experiences and how to handle such situations on eBay.
Hello everyone,
recently I experienced a seller extending the bidding time by 2.5 days shortly before an auction ended. I had already been sitting at my computer for hours waiting for the auction to end. That was pretty frustrating. I wanted to withdraw my bid, but I’m not sure whether it worked since I didn’t receive any confirmation. In addition, the item number I copied and pasted doesn’t seem to be recognized by eBay.
Have you had similar experiences? How do you deal with it when a seller extends an auction? And what do you do when eBay suddenly no longer recognizes a copied item number? I look forward to your opinions and tips!
Best regards,
Roesle

once bids have been placed, a seller can no longer change anything, at most add images
eBay is currently testing extending auctions by a few minutes if bids were placed shortly before the auction ended, though only for selected auctions and definitely not by 2.5 days
you simply misread the listing or confused the auction

Mentor1 month agoThat actually can’t be possible, because nothing can be changed during an ongoing auction with bids already placed. And there are no half days for auctions either; there are only: 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10 days
