Shipping confirmed even though the item has not yet been shipped
Summary: wie621762 reported a problem where an item was marked as shipped even though they had not yet sent it. perfect-sally and other participants discussed that this often happens when a shipping label is created through eBay. petersmodellbahnstuebchen and selina_b@ebay explained that the customer may have agreed on a drop-off location, which could lead to an incorrect confirmation. perfect-sally asked about potential effects on buyer protection, and selina_b@ebay confirmed that responsibility lies with the buyer if a drop-off location was set. voli-maus suggested simply shipping the item so that the buyer receives it.
Hello,
I have a problem with a sale. The order shows that the shipping carrier confirmed receipt of the parcel on August 6 and the item is marked as “shipped”.
However, that is not correct. The item is still with me and I have not shipped it. I have also not used the QR code or the shipping label yet, nor had it scanned anywhere.
I ask you to please check the matter and let me know how this shipping status came about and what I should do now.
Thank you very much.

What you should do: take the item to the shipping provider so that the buyer receives their item, @wie621762 .

Hello @wie621762 ,
many thanks for your post.
I can only see here, as @petersmodellbahnstuebchen wrote, that your buyer has noted a safe place as the delivery option.
@perfect-sally Many thanks for tagging it 🤗
Best regards

Mentor3 days agoOh dear, but that should only become "active" once the parcel is handed in at the shop and scanned.
selina_b@ebay
@perfect-sally Personally, I only know it this way from DHL: once the electronic scan is available, you can specify a drop-off location.

I’d also have a question about that:
isn’t it the case then that the buyer loses their buyer protection if they вмешal? if they intervene in the shipment history and later, maybe, the package can’t be found at the drop-off location?
Thanks ☺
selina_b@ebay
@perfect-sally Yes, that's right. Because for the drop-off location, the buyer is then responsible for making sure it is secure.

that's also what the basic principle of buyer protection says:
If the item disappears after delivery, the buyer is *screwed.

Hi Selina,
if the buyer is registered with DHL, for example, the drop-off location is already imported before shipping, order 20-14968-09310:
And the first electronic scan also happens beforehand when buying Ebay labels.

Mentor3 days agoHey @wie621762
check the shipment status on the shipping provider's website. It’s possible your customer agreed on a drop-off location. In that case, that would be an automatic DHL scan that eBay could mistakenly take into account.

Mentor3 days agoThen tell us how you ship.
When I create a label via eBay, no matter which carrier, the item is immediately marked as shipped.
And it doesn't matter whether it has already been scanned or dropped off at the shop. The further tracking history is then only visible from the first scan.
Where's the problem? That's always been the case.
I'd also be interested to know why the carrier is already declaring the shipment as received, but actually eBay has had problems for a long time with the correct display of tracking information.
@selina_b@ebay could you please take a look? Marked as shipped, okay, but marked as handed over to the shipping provider can't be right. Thanks
