Shipping under €20 value only possible without tracking
Summary: daniel4net is trying to sell items from an estate via eBay and offers shipping with tracking to minimize the risk of buyer protection abuse. However, there is uncertainty about how buyer protection works for items between 1 euro and 20 euro without tracking. perfect-sally explains that there is seller protection for items up to 20 euro if the label is created through eBay, and recommends putting users who try to drive down the shipping costs on the block list.
Hello, for some time now I’ve been trying to sell an inheritance on eBay and I only offer shipping with tracking incl. liability. However, I also wanted to sell things in the around-€5 range, like a CD. With shipping costs including tracking, of course I put off buyers, but that way the risk is lower that buyer protection will simply be abused and I’ll be left with the damage. How does buyer protection work between €1 and €20 if I ship by letter? There’s no tracking for that, and eBay doesn’t offer registered mail as an option. Or is it better then to ship full parcels, where the shipping costs are accepted? But when it comes to shipping costs, some buyers also try to haggle them down, even though packaging, etc. isn’t free either.

Mentor1 month agoSeller protection on ebay is available for such items with a total value up to €20 incl. shipping costs, if the label is created via ebay. These letters generally have basic tracking.
If you want to choose additional options such as registered mail, you have to create and pay for the label via the Deutsche Post website and enter the tracking number in the item.
And really, the shipping costs from the seller are clearly stated from the outset and the buyer accepts and buys, or they just leave it. If someone tries to haggle, I would put such users on the block list straight away.

OP1 month agoHello, is eBay's basic tracking enough? Okay. Thanks. Some buyers are weird too. You ship the item to the buyer and then it goes completely quiet. Last time I already thought I had a ghost buyer.

Basic tracking is enough to get the seller protection offered by eBay.
