Control the option for insured or uninsured shipping based on order value
Summary: jodelschnecke describes his experience trading model cars and wants to find a solution to offer uninsured shipping only up to a goods value of €6. He says that buyers often choose uninsured shipping for more expensive total order values, which puts a risk on him. voli-maus suggests registering as a business and recommends an updated invoice for buyers who purchase multiple items.
I buy, collect, and then sell duplicate used model cars in scale 1:87. Many of them go for €1.50 - €2 to the highest bidder. For purchases like that, €5.19 as the cheapest insured shipping option via HERMES is really too steep, and packaging materials etc. still come on top of that. So I offer shipping as a parcel post item with the DP uninsured, which then costs €2.70. At the same time, the buyer ALWAYS has the option to choose HERMES with an extra charge.
I have decided to bear the shipping risk up to a value of €6 (grudgingly). In my shipping conditions I have stated that the parcel post option only applies up to a goods value of €6. But if an auction ends at €10 or more, for example, I can't prevent the buyer from now choosing and paying for uninsured shipping - then the risk is on me.
Is there a way for me to ensure uninsured shipping only up to a goods value of €6. This also applies if buyers collect across multiple auctions. I've already had cases where the total came to over €40, but the buyer wanted a combined invoice with uninsured shipping, since that is possible for each individual item. They can have that, but then they have to bear the shipping risk. According to EBAY seller protection, that doesn't work though.
Do any of you have any advice?

Regarding the shipping options, you can try working with conditions and setting them up that way.

Mentor1 month agoHello @jodelschnecke ,
have you ever thought about registering as a commercial seller?
You sell quite a lot.
That probably brings tears to the eyes of some commercial sellers. 😢
For me, as a real private seller, the buyers "choose" the one tracked shipping method that I stated.
And if a buyer purchases several items, then I send a revised invoice to the buyer.
