Hello dear Ebay friends,
I want to start out on Ebay as a commercial seller, and although everything is in place (VAT ID no., Lucid number, etc.) and there are no more open questions in the messages from Ebay either, when I try to list products I get a red banner at the very top, which basically says that I still have unresolved questions.
Now there are two possibilities as to how this all could have happened. At first I created a new business account, but then I had the thought that it would be stupid not to carry over the 6 positive reviews from my private account, so I then switched my private account to business. This is the account I now want to use commercially and with which I am currently also writing, not the other one created earlier, which was never private. For a while, both accounts had the same email address, which could of course confuse the system. Because it didn't work, I was trying things out and also changed email addresses in both accounts.
The second possibility is that it is because I had already created the business accounts when I started applying for my tax number; so about four weeks earlier. But I still hadn't listed any products during that entire time. I only started trying that today. In the last few weeks Ebay kept asking me to submit data such as the VAT ID no. again, which I knew because I was waiting for the letter with the number, but I didn't think you would already be sanctioned then even though you hadn't listed anything at all yet. In any case, I had a message from Ebay in the Ebay messages saying that I had to provide the evidence by 30.09, so by Wednesday, in order to be allowed to keep selling. But all the required data has been there since Friday and has been entered into the account.
The open questions that Ebay refers to in the above-mentioned red banner when trying to list goods were all marked as resolved by Ebay. So there are no open questions left from Ebay, and yet I still can't list anything. It really only fails at the last button for listing the product. In the account I want to use, so this one here, everything else is fine and Ebay doesn't require anything.
Which of the two things that happened do you think is more likely to be the cause of my problem?
Why does the account I want to close (the one I selected as business right away) also have a monthly selling limit, while this one still has 15000 like before, when it was still private.
What do you say? I don't need to worry, right? Could it maybe just be because of this deadline until 30.09? Maybe Ebay won't unlock me until 30.09 because only then will it really be reviewed by a staff member?
I absolutely want to start as a seller as quickly as possible. It would be really a shame if it failed because of something like this, so I urgently ask for help. You register a business, prepare everything meticulously, have dozens of boxes and everything already there, want to get started, but can't list any products even though everything is in order and can be proven.
Tomorrow morning I will try to get someone from Ebay on the phone.

No wonder something doesn’t work then.
And then the details in eBay have to match the details at the BZSt 100%, even the smallest deviation will be rejected.

OP2 weeks agoHey, thanks for the reply. I don’t know whether that was the reason; I’m just guessing. It could just as well be that I simply have to wait until 30.09 and that it’s still because the data wasn’t available at the beginning? I don’t think there are any discrepancies with the BZSt, because then the field with the Ust.Id.Nr would be marked in red. All the information is correct. Maybe it’s just a stupid bug. In any case, nothing that couldn’t be solved, right?

Mentor2 weeks agoWhy should the VAT ID be marked in red in the event of a mismatch? It doesn’t have to be because of the VAT ID, but rather all details must match 1:1.
Example: if you spell .....street out once and abbreviate it as .....str. another time, it will be rejected. A missing period or a missing comma will be rejected.

OP2 weeks ago · Edited@voli-maus The reason for the shipping is that I only sell precious metals, as well as a bit of copper here and there, and that DHL, according to its terms and conditions, excludes shipping precious metals worth over 500 euros, so the seller then has to bear the costs if a package gets lost. Large sellers usually cover the risk with DHL up to around 2000 euros with their private assets, but at the beginning no one can do that. A value courier costs, for example, for one ounce of gold, so goods worth just under 4000 euros, then easily around 100 euros shipping, which is why I don't really want to make the customer pay for it all by themselves. That is not at all an unusual rate for this industry, especially since DHL likes to just leave packages in front of the door without asking; I recently had one simply left right at the front door, but that is off topic. It's simply about the fact that DHL is not the safest service for high-value goods. I hope I could clear that up, but what does that have to do with the topic? I somehow found this a bit out of place here.

Before listing an item, you check which shipping company you are using to send it.
Please do your own research on which company you can use to ship with higher insurance coverage.
You can research that yourself on the internet.
And as a potential buyer, after a purchase I pay the purchase amount and the shipping costs.
Nothing gets split.

OP2 weeks agoThanks for the answer. What I meant by splitting it was just that I would charge the customer only half of what I pay for shipping via Wertekurier. I think I'll phrase that better and thanks for the heads-up that it could be misunderstood.

better you get a free heads-up here than a letter from a cease-and-desist lawyer arrives.
And you have to find the right shipping provider, with whom your sold items are "insured" in case they get lost during shipping.

OP2 weeks agoI’ll reword that. Sure, shipping is done depending on the value with the appropriate service providers. I’m one of the few who pay attention to that. Shipping products over 500 euros via DHL is standard in the industry, even on eBay, but I’m nowhere near that rich that I could afford to be liable every time if something gets lost without insurance. Of course you can also ship without insurance, as long as you then also take responsibility if it gets lost, but I’m not taking that risk in the first place. Thanks for the tip. I think most people will understand how the sentence was meant, but just to be safe I’ll change it to avoid misunderstandings. But that won’t be the reason for my actual problem here, right?

OP2 weeks agoTo briefly summarize again: I want to start using this account that I’m writing from here as a commercial seller, I have the VAT ID, Lucid number, legally compliant terms and conditions, business registration, and everything else I need available, but I can’t list any products; it fails at the last button, which is either because I accidentally created two accounts with the same email address, or because of the deadline mentioned above until 30/09, which is no longer relevant anyway since, as mentioned above, I have long since submitted all the information eBay needs. My account is shown as completely clean. Only the final listing of products doesn’t work.
