What to do with an EK II from 1939? Melt down a piece of contemporary history? | Members help members

Hello everyone,without knowing eBay's strict guidelines, I listed three “medals” today, among other things; they were three Iron Crosses from different periods. The 1939 example was deleted very quickly as violating the guidelines. The reason is that on one side a swastika can be seen above the year. So first of all: I fully agree with eBay's guidelines on “National Socialist and other extremist items”! I wasn't aware at the time that listing the EK II from 1939 would be a violation of these guidelines.My question is simply:What should I do with such a medal, which in part represents a very sad piece of historical evidence?This “medal” was often presented by the Wehrmacht to families when fathers or sons had fallen or gone missing in the Second World War. So, a symbol of a pointless deployment that ended in death.Should one now melt down such a “trinket” thoughtlessly or keep it?What do you think? Regards...
