Hello, I was charged a lot of listing fees of 50 cents each. That’s why I called support; as a goodwill gesture they want to reimburse me part of the amount, but the basic problem remains. The crucial question from my point of view is: Do auctions automatically relisted count toward the 320 free auctions per month or not? The whole story: I had already listed auctions in the summer. When creating each auction, I checked the box for “Autom. relist” within each listing, so: upload photos, auction title, description, starting bid, auction duration, shipping costs, and then the checkbox for relisting, then “List for free”. When I wanted to do the same with new auctions in October, I kept getting an error message when trying to start the auction: “You cannot relist this item because you selected automatic relisting.” I was at a loss, and by trial and error I found out that the error was caused by the box for “autom. relist”. But I hadn’t changed anything in my account between summer and autumn; I wouldn’t even have known where I would have had to activate automatic relisting for all new auctions, and that this function even exists now. I left the box unchecked, but of course I still wanted auctions that hadn’t found a buyer yet to be automatically relisted. I assumed there was a bug within Ebay and looked into how I could automatically relist auctions from then on. In Seller Cockpit Pro, under “Active listings” and then “Actions,” I found “Assign/edit automation rule”. I chose “Keep relisting until sold” and “Automatically relist immediately after listing ends”. There were no notes about any fees that might be associated with this. In November, at the end of the month, 101 items appeared in the transaction activity, each for 50 cents, labeled “listing fee”. I was at a loss again about how those had come about. I would have liked Ebay to explain everything in writing, but I could only find the AI chat support, which wasn’t helpful. After repeatedly saying “I want to write with a person,” I was directed to phone support. The man explained to me that in the overview in Cockpit Pro, I should look at the bottom right under “Special promotions” at “used/remaining”. Because I had exceeded the 320 limit in November, 50 cents was charged for every auction over the 320. I was puzzled because I had read that automatically relisted auctions do not count toward those 320 auctions. In October and November I may have started 150 auctions. But support explained it to me more or less in the sense that they do count (the man was not a native speaker, so maybe that was a hurdle). After the conversation, I wanted to look online one more time for where I thought I had read that automatically relisted auctions do not count toward the 320. I thought I’d end up in a forum where, after all, people sometimes have only half the facts or information is outdated. But I ended up on the Ebay page https://www.ebay.de/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822#section1 There it says: “Listing fees are charged only once, namely when you create the original listing or when you manually relist an item that did not sell previously. No additional listing fees are charged when relisting via the automatic relisting function and for the monthly renewal of listings created with the ‘Good ’Til Canceled’ function. These listings are also not counted toward your monthly allowance of listings for which no listing fee is charged.” At the beginning of December I put up 5 or 6 new auctions. But under “used/remaining” in “Special promotions,” the counter is already back at 171 because of the automatically relisted auctions. Yesterday I removed automatic renewal from two auctions via “Assign/edit automation rule” because I wanted to test whether the auctions would also renew automatically that way and I had made a mistake with this menu item, but those two simply were no longer renewed and were therefore ended. My question: Am I just not understanding the text on the Ebay page regarding the costs for automatically relisted auctions? Or am I doing something wrong? Or is the error on Ebay’s side?
