Too many countries stored for international shipping.
Summary: newfreezer is trying to limit international shipping for his items to EU countries via the app, but finds that the UK and Ireland are automatically included. This causes problems with shipping costs, since the UK is significantly more expensive. One participant recommends using the browser instead of the app to explicitly exclude countries. newfreezer thanks them for the advice and says the problem may have existed since an app update, although he would prefer to expand the pool of buyers through international shipping.
Hi,
I wanted to offer international shipping for my items. However, in the app I had only ever allowed “EU” as the criterion for international buyers. Suddenly, though, I started receiving price suggestions from buyers in Great Britain. When I went into the listing, I saw that Ebay had automatically selected “Europe, including Great Britain and Ireland” everywhere I had chosen “EU” as the target region. Even if I remove the checkmark there and leave it only on EU and save the listing, the checkmark is then active again afterward. That’s really annoying, since shipping there is much more expensive and the shipping costs therefore no longer fit (with DHL, Great Britain is almost twice as expensive as the rest of the EU). Ebay support’s chatbot is very unhelpful and unfortunately doesn’t let me contact a staff member about my issue, so I thought someone here might be able to help me with my problem. I really just want to ship to countries in the EU.
Best, Nils

Mentor2 weeks agoFirst, it would be better to sit down at a PC or laptop, because the app is buggy.
Then you should explicitly exclude all countries you don't want to ship to, and that is also very time-consuming with the app.
And we actually strongly recommend that private sellers avoid shipping abroad if they don't want to risk losing both money and goods.

OP2 weeks agoThank you very much for the quick response. I'll try it via the browser, although I still think it's a shame that it doesn't work in the app. This problem is new to me, so I thought it might reach someone who can change it, since it apparently only exists since the last update. In general, I also prefer to ship domestically (because of the 5% fees when selling abroad), but so far I haven't had any problems with EU buyers. It expands the buyer pool for me quite well.

Mentor2 weeks agoYes, it expands the buyer base, but as soon as complaints start coming in, the fun is over because the platform where the buyer is registered makes the decision, and in some cases there are completely different rules, including regarding buyer protection.
