Delivery not possible costs for second delivery
Summary: handylady430 reported a problem with a return caused by the buyer’s incorrect shipping address. The buyer is willing to cover the reshipping costs, and handylady430 is looking for advice on how to collect those costs. perfect-sally explained that this has to happen outside of eBay, while meinehexe11 pointed out that shipping to an address not listed on eBay could jeopardize seller protection. In the end, handylady430 clarified that the buyer needs to update the registration address on eBay to avoid future problems.
Hello everyone,
I sent out an item that is now coming back to me because the buyer entered the wrong delivery address. I've already contacted the buyer, and they are also willing to cover the reshipping costs. Since the process is basically already completed through the payment and my first shipment, I don't know how I can get the customer to pay the shipping costs for the second shipment. Can anyone help me??
Best regards, handylady430 (Klaudia)

OP3 weeks agoCorrection! The registration address at eBay would be the correct one, which the customer had already given me. Only the delivery address differs from the registration address

Mentor3 weeks agoThe delivery address does not necessarily have to be the delivery address either. That’s why there are several addresses on eBay that can be provided. And the registration address cannot be changed either.

Mentor3 weeks agoI mean the billing address doesn’t have to be the same as the delivery address. Unfortunately, you can’t edit these posts here.

OP3 weeks agoIt's basically okay. I already told the customer that he needs to change the delivery address (the one I sent to, which results in the return) to the one I sent the package to.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedYes, okay, but the delivery address seems to be wrong, otherwise the package wouldn’t have come back to you. Doesn’t make sense to send it there again. And if the buyer now gives you a different delivery address...

OP3 weeks agoI’ve received a new delivery address; it’s the eBay registration address, which should also be the new delivery address. In my view, it’s the customer’s responsibility to update their details here

Mentor3 weeks agoEven if the buyer now gives a different address, you must not ship there if you don't want to lose your seller protection. The only thing left is to cancel the purchase and refund it.

Mentor3 weeks agoHey, hey.
I’ll add something here. You should only ship to the delivery address stored on eBay. Otherwise, you’ll lose your seller protection. If the buyer now gives a different delivery address, that’s suboptimal for you. Cancelling the purchase would probably be the better option.

Mentor3 weeks agoThis doesn’t go through eBay, only outside of it. In that case, bank details or the PayPal address may be given.
