Error while searching
Hello everyone,
I came across the following problem:
When entering 'Ortwein' in the search field (a former model railway manufacturer), the selection 'Ortwein h0 in model railways' does appear correctly,
but selecting it results in 'xyz results for rotwein h0'.
Nice bit of word acrobatics, but pretty pointless. Could someone please give the AI a higher share of 'I'?

·1 month agoIn the past, stuff like this didn’t happen. Back then, people still trusted users to spell their search terms correctly. But that’s long gone, long ago. Still, I see it positively, because you learn something from it; it shows us the portal’s view of its users.
It’s annoying, but I wouldn’t consider it a mistake, quite the opposite. The idea that the user might well be slightly tipsy while practicing their hobby is pretty obvious after all. Such search term expansions have probably been deliberately built in. After all, leading advertising experts have long known: customers who bought this bicycle saddle are also interested in this Ahsrkcreme. I believe the further development of search software in this direction is assured.

That's often how it is, that the search results initially show "wrong" items that are referred to and searched for with a similarly spelled and more commonly used term.
There's this link for it that includes your search term:
Results for rotwein. Search instead for Ortwein

·1 month ago · EditedAnd ever since there’s been post moderation in the forum, with posts containing images sometimes only being approved hours later, you might as well not bother replying in a topic anymore. Two replies with images that I’m only seeing now, after I had replied here.
Not to mention the confusion that sometimes causes....

if you're working on a PC, you can narrow down the search options a bit more in the advanced search:
Then the results should fit.

OP1 month agoyes, as long as you set the terminology to 'exact' and set the category to 'model building' you get on the right track. But that’s rather cumbersome, so I think the automatic rule 'Ortwein includes red wine wine red red wine'
is very much worth reconsidering.

·1 month ago · EditedI tried it out and entered „Ortwein“ into the search. It actually only shows red wine and a note: “Results for rotwein. Did you mean Ortwein instead?“. When I click on that, Ortwein H0 model trains plus accessories come up.
With all due respect: The search is simply bad, ever since the AI started messing around in it.
