€4,526 eBay credit not paid out for weeks – despite approval, no solution – looking for eBay employee
Summary: kepe90 reports difficulties receiving €4,526 from an eBay transaction, despite the funds having been released. After submitting the requested documents and receiving confirmation that the payout had been initiated, the money is still not available. The contact person did not receive any clear answers from eBay customer service, and the account remains restricted. Community members point out that users are responsible for making the transfer themselves and recommend taking legal action if the situation does not change. Discussion participants explain that eBay employees are no longer active in the forum and that customer service needs to be involved. Some express understanding for the frustration and offer guidance on possible procedures and legal steps.
Hello everyone,
I’m turning to the community now with considerable incomprehension, because I’ve been trying for quite some time to get my money and eBay customer service has so far been unable to give me any concrete solution.
This is about €4,526 that comes from a sale I processed through eBay.
I want to present the situation here as clearly and completely as possible, because by now I have the impression that my case is being passed back and forth between different eBay departments.
What has happened so far
After the sale, the payout of the sales proceeds was initially withheld by eBay.
eBay then requested various proof documents and records from me. I fully cooperated in the review and submitted the documents requested from me.
One invoice from Riot that eBay referred to was not available to me. To the best of my knowledge, this invoice was also not made available to me by email. I pointed this out to eBay several times.
Nevertheless, I submitted everything that was actually available to me.
Then the money was released
The crucial point for me:
The review was apparently then completed and the withheld money was released by eBay again.
The €4,526 were credited to me as eBay balance.
For me, that should have settled the matter.
If eBay lists my money again as available balance after a review, then as a seller I naturally assume that I can also actually have that balance paid out.
But that still doesn’t work to this day
Although the money is available or has been released as balance, I have not received the €4,526.
That’s why I’ve contacted eBay customer service several times.
However, I’m not getting a clear answer to the decisive question:
Where is my €4,526 and why is it not being paid out to me despite the release?
What is particularly problematic for me is that I was told in the meantime that the payout had been initiated.
However, the payout never reached me.
If a payout was actually initiated, then it should be traceable when, where, and with what status this payout was made.
Instead, I have not received any reliable information so far.
What I have not received from eBay so far
That’s why I specifically want a concrete answer and no further general statement like “please wait a little longer” or “the case is being reviewed.”
I want to know:
1. Is my balance of **€4,526 actually fully released?
2. Is there currently still any payout hold on my account?
3. Was a payout of €4,526 actually instructed?
4. If so: When exactly was this payout instructed and what status does it have?
5. To which saved payout account was the payment sent?
6. If the payout was not carried out: What is the specific reason for that?
7. What specific action do I still need to take so that I receive my money?
I have now done everything that was asked of me
I submitted the requested documents, responded to follow-up questions, and repeatedly tried to clarify the matter with customer service.
Nevertheless, I’m now sitting on an eBay balance of €4,526 that I practically cannot access.
That is no longer understandable to me.
I understand that eBay has to carry out appropriate checks for sales. I also provided all the requested proof for that.
What I cannot understand, however, is that the money is released again as balance after the review is completed, but then no payout still takes place and no one can explain to me concretely why.
So my urgent request to eBay
If an eBay employee or community staff member is reading this:
Please look into my case and make sure it is forwarded to the responsible payments/payout department.
I don’t need another general explanation about payout holds.
My money has already been released.
I only want a plausible answer to why the €4,526 still haven’t reached me and when the payout will actually happen.
I can כמובן provide the relevant case, sales, and account details via a secure or private contact.
Maybe someone from the community has already had exactly the same process:
Money withheld → proof submitted → review completed → balance released → payout still not received.
If so, I’d be very grateful if you could tell me how you eventually got your money and which eBay department actually helped you.
Thank you very much.
Best regards

… maybe a really stupid question, but @kepe90 – have you tried accessing the amount yourself under "Payments"/transferring it to your bank? Ebay doesn’t do that automatically anymore like it used to. That funds are withheld/been withheld for new or reactivated sellers is apparently completely normal and often read about here, especially for large amounts, basically always for up to 30 days or longer.

OP1 week agoYes, of course I tried that myself on the day in question, 22/09, after I was told that my money would no longer be withheld and had instead been credited to me as balance.
The problem, however, is that the payout button is still greyed out and therefore not clickable. Above it, the following message is now displayed in red:
“Your payouts are currently being withheld because your eBay account is restricted. You will receive payouts again as soon as your eBay account has been unlocked.”
I’ve now been waiting for over a month for my money and for my account to finally be unlocked again. But absolutely nothing is happening.
Since 22/09, I also haven’t been getting any proper response from eBay anymore. When I contact the hotline, I keep being fobbed off with the same standard replies, without my specific problem actually being solved. At times, I unfortunately also had the feeling that the staff either didn’t properly understand my issue or couldn’t give me any concrete information.
I’m really fed up with it now. I’ve given eBay enough time to solve the problem and pay out my money to me.
If nothing changes by then, the matter will go to my lawyer tomorrow. eBay will also receive a corresponding written demand.
To be honest, I find it alarming how many similar cases you can now find in this forum and on other platforms as well. If you look at the numerous reports on Reddit and in other forums, at the very least it gives the impression that my problem is by no means an isolated case.
I will also leave a corresponding review once the matter has been resolved and describe my actual experiences with eBay customer service and the payout.

then just get the money - it would be so easy.
Send a final formal reminder with a clear deadline (including the date) by registered mail - the exact address is in the legal notice - managing director.
If that doesn’t work, file for a dunning order at the competent court - your place of residence - with that amount, the upfront paid costs are worth it.
You’ve got nothing to fear at all, only that you can no longer / are no longer allowed to sell here - that wouldn’t put me off.

·1 week ago · EditedOk, it was a silly question, but something like that has happened here quite often too (not being familiar with the process / not having discovered the transfer button).
Your tax ID is on file?
Of course, that’s super-annoying for sellers, there’s no sugarcoating that. Setting a deadline now can help, or it can just delay the whole thing further by the length of the deadline. Don’t know if patience would be the better advice. ;-(

·1 week agoHello @kepe90
as announced by Ebay in this post, the Ebay staff are now only available in teams of three, but not on weekends.
It also says there that for issues involving the Ebay account, customer service should be involved.
We mentors unfortunately can't access your accounts to analyze such errors, though we wouldn't want to either.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea

We community users naturally read along here too, but we’re just users like you and unfortunately can’t help any further. We can neither look into your account nor see whether your money has been released or anything else.
Unfortunately, there are no longer any eBay employees here that we could have brought in before. Sadly, you’ll have to keep dealing with customer service.
