Payout blocked since June — Czech account classified as not eligible for direct debit, no alternative verification possible
Summary: bocc_2588, an eBay seller residing in the Czech Republic, reported an issue with a blocked payout due to their Czech bank account being classified as not suitable for direct debit. Despite attempts to update and verify the account, eBay's system does not support required verification methods, like uploading bank statements. miriam@ebay, from eBay support, explained that payouts require an account capable of handling direct debits and suggested exploring different account options. bocc_2588 expressed concerns about the process and requested a solution or a direct transfer of funds if no alternative is feasible. Dialogue with eBay support is ongoing to address the situation.
Hello everyone,
I sell on eBay.de and live in Czechia. Since June 2026, €405.80 has been sitting in my seller account and has not been paid out. In the payments area it is shown as “available,” but the “request payout” button is disabled, a red warning symbol appears in the payout schedule, and there hasn’t been a single payout in the last 90 days.
The reason was confirmed to me by customer service: my account (Air Bank a.s., Czech IBAN) was classified as not capable of direct debit because the test amount of €0.01 could not be reversed. My bank confirmed in writing that a foreign direct debit cannot technically be set up with them. A second Czech bank told me the same thing. I can’t open a German account because I don’t live in Germany.
I have re-entered the bank account several times, most recently today, via Payments → Payout method → Add payout method → Bank account. The option customer service always mentions, “enter IBAN for SEPA countries manually,” never appears when CZ is selected: you go straight to the form with account holder, IBAN, and SEPA direct debit mandate. There is no further verification process there, no link, and no field for uploading documents.
However, the help page for updating bank details for payouts mentions three verification methods: login to the bank account, uploading a bank statement, or test payments. I also read here in the forum that a Swiss seller with the same problem was told that the bank statement was exactly the solution.
My question: how can verification via bank statement be enabled for a Czech account if the online process doesn’t offer that option at all? Repeating the automatic process again inevitably leads to the same result.
I’d also like to note: my selling fees are already being debited via my stored Mastercard, and my balance is already with eBay. So a direct debit from my bank account won’t be needed in the future either.
I’d be very grateful for any advice from eBay or from members with similar cases.

Hello @bocc_2588 and thanks for your post! We took a closer look at your case. The key issue here is actually not the verification itself, but that the test amounts transferred for verification could not then be debited from your bank account.
A verification via bank statement would therefore unfortunately not solve this problem. For payouts, we need a verified bank account from which the relevant debits are possible. The credit card on file can be used for selling fees, but it does not replace this bank account for payouts.
You could still check with your bank whether it is possible to set up an EUR account there that supports the corresponding direct debits, and then add this to eBay. If this account also cannot be verified, then unfortunately the only option at the moment is to use another bank account that supports direct debits.
I understand that, especially after several months with an outstanding payout, this is not a satisfactory answer for you. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer any other system-side way to release the payout in this case.
Thanks for tagging in, @petersmodellbahnstuebchen !
Kind regards
Miriam

OP3 days agoHello Miriam, thank you for taking a look at my case: this is the first concrete response in four months.
I am not the first Czech seller with this problem: here is an identical case from last year (https://community.ebay.de/forum/mitglieder-helfen-mitgliedern-16/topic/guten-tag-an-ihr-team-ebay-bitte-kann-ich-erfahren-warum-sie-meine-auszahlung-einbehalten-wahre-4365/). Do you know whether and how such cases were resolved? Is there a Czech bank that has passed verification? And is the manual verification by bank statement, which was offered to a Swiss seller in this discussion (https://community.ebay.de/forum/zahlungsabwicklung-bei-ebay-34/topic/auszahlung-einbehalten-1496/), also applicable in my case? I am willing to prove ownership of the account with any documents required.
For context: as a seller, I could not have foreseen this obstacle. Verifying a bank account is just a formality everywhere, but your process does not check ownership, only SEPA direct debit capability, which Czech banks do not support: Air Bank confirmed this to me in writing, and I even opened an account with Fio banka specifically for this — in vain. A German account requires residence in Germany. And in my case the direct debit would never be needed anyway: the balance is held by eBay, the fees are charged to the Mastercard, and the rest can be deducted from the payout. A prior notice for Czech sellers during registration would avoid such cases — for them as well as for your team.
If you confirm that there is no way out, I request a one-time payout of the €405.80 by SEPA transfer, with proof of account ownership through the documents you require. After that, I will no longer sell on eBay and will consider the matter closed.
Thank you very much for your time and attention to my case.

Hello @bocc_2588 - thanks for the additional information. I’ll try again to find the right people to contact to draw attention to the underlying issue and discuss possible solutions. Unfortunately, I can’t promise anything there.
Update: I’ve just sent you a community DM as well to let you know about the next steps.
Best regards
Miriam

That’s why his thread starts that way too.

maybe an eBay employee can give you a tip here in the forum tomorrow. @miriam@ebay could you please take a look and see whether you can give the OP another tip? Thanks, Miriam. ❤️
