Warranty and Invoice
The seller isn't giving me a warranty certificate or an invoice. He isn't responding anymore.
What should I do?

If an eBay seller doesn’t provide an invoice / warranty proof and stops replying, you have three effective steps: open a case, set a deadline, involve eBay.
Now I’ll give you the battle-tested seller strategy that really works.
🛑 1) Open an eBay case right away
This is the most important step.
It forces the seller to respond.
Go to your order
Select Report a problem
Reason: “Item does not match the description / missing documents”
Write briefly:
“Seller does not provide an invoice / warranty proof. No response.”
➡️ Open eBay case
🟧 2) Seller automatically gets a deadline (usually 3–5 days)
If they don’t respond, eBay takes over the case.
Then you have two options:
Refund
Force return (if you don’t want to keep the item)
🟦 3) Important point: invoice requirement for commercial sellers
If the seller is commercial, they must give you an invoice.
No invoice = violation of eBay policies.
You can mention this in the case:
➡️ Check invoice requirement
🟩 4) Warranty proof is often irrelevant – the invoice is what matters
Manufacturer warranties apply even without warranty proof, but only with proof of purchase.
If the seller does not provide an invoice, that is a defect in the item.
🟪 5) If the seller is private
Then they do not have to provide a warranty.
BUT:
If they promised a warranty in the listing → they have to deliver.
➡️ Warranty promised?
🟥 6) Seller doesn’t respond? → eBay decides in your favor
If the seller lets the deadline pass, eBay decides almost always in your favor:
Money back
or Return + refund

·2 weeks agoAnd you mean, if there should be something wrong with the item, the seller from Hong Kong would do something, @zim118fred ?

Apparently a lot of users here still think that 😄
Either they don’t even realize that they’re buying from a Chinese seller, or they think that German consumer rights also apply in China and, above all, that Ebay will also take care of it.
Either way, I keep finding that pretty concerning.

·2 weeks agoWell, a German VAT ID or one from Switzerland is enough.
A jumble in the WRB basically doesn’t matter, as long as something was cobbled together.
And people often only look into it afterward, when something happens.
Along the lines of “it’s cheap after all”

·2 weeks agoIf you bought with this account, you are not entitled to an invoice because it is a private account.
As for the warranty proof, nothing can be said since the item is not known.
Was this part of the offer?
