apparently incorrect data in the VAT tax ID
Summary: The discussion revolves around allegedly incorrect data in a VAT ID, with several participants commenting on it. No further details or specific content are exchanged.
Hello, I have the problem that I moved. Now the tax office has transmitted the new address to the Federal Central Tax Office.
I have now changed this after I received the email from Ebay, but a few minutes later I get another email saying that it is not correct.
I know that it has to be entered exactly as it appears in the business registration.
I did that too, but the mask in Ebay automatically changes my street name so that everything is written in lowercase and with a hyphen in between.
I think that must be where the error is. Can someone explain to me how I can enter it so it doesn't get changed automatically.
Example:
I write: Franz Gruber Platz 16
( that's also how it appears in the business registration, so I assume it was transmitted that way too )
Ebay system changes it to: Franz-gruber-platz 16
( and you're actually supposed to enter it exactly like that, but how? )

·2 months agoUnfortunately, that’s not quite true. What matters is what is stored at the Federal Central Tax Office. And as a sole proprietor, which you are, that is first and foremost your private residential address, unless you have switched on a EURO address, which you also have to apply for there. But you’ve basically done that now, right? Or did you already have that before?

OP1 month agoAt the BZSt, my company address was initially on file. Then, after the move, something apparently wasn’t transferred correctly between the parties involved, so for a time my private address was on file. I was able to verify that from the excerpt from the BZSt itself.
According to the tax office, the data was transmitted correctly from their side. That’s why I was told to contact the BZSt directly. In the meantime, I was even advised to enter my private address on eBay so I could keep selling until the data there was correctly stored again.
I did not apply for a EURO address. I normally have a company address as the place of business, and that exact address was already on file before the move. The strange thing was that the address at the BZSt switched several times between private and company address, even though, according to the tax office, everything was reported correctly.
That’s why I still assume that something went wrong somewhere in the data transmission between the authorities or databases involved.

·1 month agoI think that as long as you don't have a EURO address, this will keep causing problems. Because again: As a private sole proprietor without one, your private residential address should actually be on file with the BZSt, and then I would simply argue that it was just luck that this hasn't caused problems earlier.
An eBay customer service representative can check in real time whether the match is correct. Here you may need a bit of luck to have someone competent on the line. And then it could really be that you first have to enter the private address here until you have the EURO address.

·4 months agoHello @retouren365 I’ve submitted an inquiry to the relevant department here, but please keep in mind that due to the holidays, the feedback will probably only come after that.
Please be patient here.

OP4 months agoThanks for your email, if it is as you wrote it to me, then that is a mistake by the tax office! Because then they passed on my private address and not my business address. That just shows that only ***** work at the tax office and can't read a business registration form. My business registration is correct, I have it right in front of me and my company is entered correctly there. I will now clarify it directly with the tax office and bang the table there

OP3 months agoGood morning Verena, could you maybe check whether it's correct now? The tax office assured me three days ago that it should be changed by today. Since it was an error on their part in the transmission

OP2 months agoI’m raising this issue again now because this endless farce has by now reached a truly incomprehensible scale.
The original suspension was due to the tax office in Dieburg (Hesse) having transmitted incorrect data to the Federal Central Tax Office. Instead of my business address, my private address was entered.
I was then told by the tax office itself that I should temporarily use my private address so that I could continue trading until the matter was clarified. That is exactly what I did. The suspension was then lifted and I uploaded all items again, set up listings and ads, and even paid additional advertising fees in part.
With the justified expectation that, in the event of renewed discrepancies, at least a prior notice with a deadline would be issued — just as was also possible last time.
Instead, my account was blocked again without prior notice. Once again, all work, settings, and investments were undone.
What is especially frustrating is that, through the renewed reactivation, additional paid ads were generated beforehand, although the cause of the problem clearly did not lie with me, but was based on incorrectly transmitted data.
I do not understand why this time it should not have been possible to simply send a notification with a deadline for correction, even though that also worked previously. Instead, economic damage is being caused once again by a process that I neither caused nor could influence.
I therefore urgently request clarification as well as specific information on who will cover the additional costs and advertising fees incurred again that were caused by this repeated suspension.

You should get in touch with the BZSt and ask for the data they have on file for you.
Because what the tax office reported does not have to be what the BZSt entered.
Apparently, everyone there just does whatever they want.
And since spelling also plays a very big role, it’s enough if one writes Str., the next thinks, I’ll use Strasse.
Business names are also abbreviated or, in some cases, such as with a GBR, simply misspelled.
It still doesn’t seem to have sunk in in the government offices that such data has to be handled precisely and carefully, and not altered, abbreviated, or rearranged at will and according to mood.

OP2 months agoI did, that’s why it came out. And as a stopgap so the online business can keep going, the tax office then said I should declare it as private for the time being until it changes. eBay will then let them know again what’s not correct once they’ve changed it with the Federal Tax Office. But nothing was changed, and eBay just removed everything again without notice.

·2 months agoHello @retouren365,
Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. I understand that the restriction and the resulting effort are very frustrating for you.
After reviewing the matter again, however, we unfortunately cannot grant compensation here, because even if the discrepancy in the data was originally caused by the address stored with the Federal Central Tax Office, the responsibility for correctly storing the tax data in the eBay account lies with the seller.
In addition, you were repeatedly asked by us to correct your data on time, and we had also granted you additional deadline extensions beforehand. Since the stored data still did not match the data stored with the BZSt. after the last deadline expired, and you also did not ask us for any further extension, your eBay account was restricted in accordance with legal requirements. I therefore ask for your understanding that we cannot offer you a refund of the fees you incurred.
Kind regards
Verena
