eBay is removing real craft straws from the marketplace. Reason: single-use plastic not allowed... crazy.
Summary: wokonmedia mentioned that eBay has removed real craft straws from the marketplace because single-use plastic is not allowed, describing the situation as crazy. The discussion continued without specific details or additional comments provided in the responses.
It’s about my listing of natural, naturally plastic-free craft straws from Rayher, "Straws, 22 cm long Rayher 8906300" Yes, the STRAWs are made of straw. Odd...
The packaging is unfortunately plastic wrap, but that’s not what this is about here.
Email from eBay:
We have removed some of your listings: Policy on single-use plastic products
Good day wokonmedia,
One or more of your listings violate our policy on single-use plastic products and were removed. We know that this can be frustrating. But don’t worry - we’re happy to help you!
blablabla....
They’re just guessing out of thin air what the straws are made of... without consulting me, without checking with Rayher, googling it, or inspecting the photo more closely, where you can see that they aren’t the same thickness and are partly conical too. Nowhere in the listing does it say anything about synthetic or plastic!!!
How do you come up with the idea of just removing a natural product and guessing what it’s made of here?!?! A straw is not the same as a plastic straw!
I don’t think that’s okay.

·2 months agoHello,
You can file an appeal here and briefly explain that it is NOT plastic. I had a similar case where the item was re-enabled afterwards.
Good luck!
