Help for sellers, eBay service and requesting help by ignoring it, not paying attention to facts and evidence, general service for sellers
Summary: soulsliken1-luprivat reports in detail on problems with a sales service, especially the downgrading of service status and unfairly handled complaints. They describe negative experiences with buyers who make false claims and leave unfair ratings. Other participants, such as kometenhuhn and roter_rauch, comment that statistics and automated processes may have led to the restriction. Some participants criticize the length and structure of the original post and suggest an AI-assisted summary. It is also discussed how one can prepare for such challenges, such as by describing items precisely or keeping documented proof of shipping.
For some time now I’ve only had problems with eBay’s service, here is a copy of my complaint because my account has just been restricted and the service status has been downgraded. I’m wondering whether anyone has had similar or the same experiences.
Downgrade of my service status, I want a detailed explanation for the downgrade of my status. I’ve seen the statistics and currently there are no issues and all older cases have already been resolved. I always tried to sort things out peacefully and politely with rude buyers; on advice I accepted returns that were based on lies, e.g. about the condition. I always write a detailed description and upload detailed pictures of the item, including any damage or signs of use, and yet you are forced to accept the return if someone claims the item is not as described, although that clearly isn’t true. Then there was the case where the buyer claimed the item had not arrived, and I researched through very opaque DHL pages and was able to present confirmation from the delivery person that the shipment had been delivered, but just because there was no tracking number, the decision was made against me and I had to refund, even though from the very beginning there had been a dispute with the buyer in which I was insulted, threatened, defamed and blackmailed, and I reported that several times and asked for help and you did absolutely nothing to help, although the buyer had demonstrably violated several basic principles and even announced that he would claim he had not received the parcel before it was delivered. Even when I reported that with proof, I had to refund it anyway, which was outrageous. I am really angry and dissatisfied. My service status was supposedly above average at the time, but I was treated below average, and although there was evidence and proof, every time the decision was made in the other party’s favor. That is an insult. Now to downgrade my service status, look at my entire history since I signed up as well as the reviews — if you had deleted the negative review, which was your duty, from the buyer who insulted, blackmailed, threatened and defamed me and in the end, with your help, ripped me off, then there would also have been the only negative review from all my sales. Then there was the case of the person who bought 2 expensive branded trousers, new and unworn, without tags, and kept claiming they had not arrived until he tried to blackmail a partial refund because he supposedly thinks the trousers smell. He said I should pay for cleaning, which of course would have changed the condition and deviated from my description if I had washed them myself, where I stated that the trousers had been unused in my grandparents’ wardrobe for at least 2 years; he had bought them shortly before his death and they had never been worn, so of course they don’t smell fresh, and many people don’t find the smell of old people fresh anyway, but that was only a pretext. The trousers had cost 70€ each and were unworn, so like new; wash them once and done — you do that after buying a pair of trousers at the mall too. He got both trousers without shipping costs for 25€ and still wanted another 10–15€, but only because he did not state after this demand that he had already received the item long ago, that was again held against me, and the buyer certainly had no consequences for the attempted blackmail, knowing you. What happened to the good service and service employees from the past who still acted fairly and properly and looked at the cases carefully, especially when they still received clues? I had of course reported this too so that the buyer would be held accountable for this outrageous behavior and violation of the rules, and the false claim that the item had not arrived would be deleted from my account. It may be that 2–3 times I shipped a day later than the processing time, which is why I have now also extended the handling time by one day, because things can come up for anyone. I also apologized to the buyer each time. The fact is that nowadays you can’t even send the smallest item without a tracking number, even if a simple 0.95 cent letter would be enough, because someone can simply claim it did not arrive even if it did arrive, which is to the disadvantage of honest buyers who save so much money on shipping and to the disadvantage of small private sellers like me, because items with expensive shipping obviously sell less well than those with low or free shipping. Even with a sworn statement from the local regular delivery person, scammers are helped here in ripping people off, and the regular delivery person in a small village or on his route knows every house exactly and can usually still remember one or two weeks after delivery whether he delivered something or not, especially if he is given an exact description of the shipment. So I think it is a downright outrageous imposition that I have now been told, without reason, that my service status is being set from above average straight down to below average, and that my account is also being restricted for no apparent reason, at a time when, without advertising, which is how you make your money, you hardly have a chance to sell anything well. I had already wondered why nothing had been bought for quite a while, but I am being blatantly harassed by you. You have repeatedly failed to help me even though there was evidence and I really needed your support; even after review, you did nothing, and now this harassment of restricting the account and downgrading the service status despite an almost spotless sales history. I have seen other accounts with 70–80% positive ratings and the rest negative complaints where people did not receive their items or were sent empty boxes, and because a tracking number existed, they did not get their money back, which has already happened to me as well. Do you expect people to film every purchase as they open the parcel in order to prove something like that? I used to have another account, whose login details I unfortunately forgot, which I ran from 2010 to 2019 with 100% positive ratings and an annual turnover of an average of 2000€; at that time, sellers were still helped in difficult cases with complicated buyers. I always behave friendly and always try to stay calm when there is a problem and sort it out with the buyer without a dispute to the buyer’s satisfaction, and if I realize it isn’t working I offer to take the item back and refund the money, but some buyers are so outrageous and provoke and insult you, accuse you of things, etc., as I already mentioned above. I’m going to put all this online now in forums and the community to warn other people and find people with the same experiences and exchange views with them. And I expect a new proper analysis regarding my service status and, of course, the restriction to be lifted, and during the analysis you should carefully examine the individual cases this time, especially the ones where I had to report the other person several times and repeatedly asked for help and support in vain, by phone and in writing! Kind regards

·1 week agoHello @soulsliken1-luprivat !
It was exhausting to read your whole wall of text.
It's hard to form an opinion on it.
Because we only read your opinion about your buyers and
I have them vividly in front of me, standing in the pillory.
Are you sure you did everything right yourself
and maybe didn't yourself contribute to it escalating like this now?
To judge fairly, you have to hear both sides.
What do you expect from us. We don't know whether it really
happened that way.
I can give you one piece of advice: things that are unused and have been
in the closet for a long time, I would always wash before selling them.
And young people can also stink if they don't take proper care of themselves
and that has nothing to do with age.
I would advise you to rethink your own actions once more.
Maybe a flea market would be something for you?
Whatever you have planned, I wish you lots of luck

·1 week agoGood morning, @soulsliken1-luprivat
I not only read this long sermon, but also looked up one or two of your sold items.
For example, the Brax trousers offer
Small tip on the side:
You should describe your offered items in your own words instead of using the flowery, meaningless words of the AI.
Would save you a lot of trouble.
I would also have expected the two unworn trousers that sat in your grandfather's closet for years to have been cleaned before shipping.
Smells can be very unpleasant.
An apology would have been more appropriate there than accusing the buyer of bad intentions.
That said:
a positive rating with negative text for buyers is not okay.
Not even as a comment ......

·1 week agohow can someone write a text like that without periods and commas? No one is going to read that. At least let an AI make a summary
deichchef
·1 week agoWho on earth would take on such a long text without paragraphs?
I think at least 80% of the readers here won’t put themselves through that.
Accordingly, the response to the content will also be pretty low.

OP1 week agoIt seems as if most things are no longer being evaluated and decided by employees, but only by an AI now

Yes, of course all of that is automated processes. That’s why it’s so stupid when things go wrong that could have been avoided, like shipping on time, checking everything carefully before selling, etc. …, because undoing/correcting such issues by Ebay is extremely tedious or impossible.
For example, if it’s supposedly shipped too late, you always need a tracking number that proves the opposite. Then it can work. Otherwise not.
That’s how it is.
But I also didn’t read your whole text, it was too tedious & too much of a mess for me.

·1 week agoYou can tell that's the cause - you have a defect rate of 15% and 7.5% when resolving it without the seller.
soulsliken1-luprivat
OP1 week agoYou didn’t read through what it’s about or I can see the stats myself, which is demonstrably incorrect, since the matters have been clarified and I have no influence over false information about items not received that were confirmed by the buyer in the chat as received a long time ago, but it wasn’t stated that they had already been received long ago, I saved everything
soulsliken1-luprivat
OP1 week agoDo you think it’s okay when a buyer on a clothing item that has been stored for a long time says they didn’t receive it because they’re demanding €10-15 from you for cleaning, just because in their opinion it no longer smells good, even though they knew full well that the item had been unused in the closet for 2 years, was described and photographed as such, and they only do something like that out of spite? And when you ask for help, you’re ignored? Or that if you set an absence and someone buys something during that period and it therefore can’t be shipped within the processing time, that goes into the stats?

·1 week agoHi @soulsliken1-luprivat
If the absence is set correctly, the delivery times will be adjusted accordingly.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea

·1 week ago · EditedNo, I only skimmed it, to be honest. Just too much text, sorry.
In the statistics, however, there were several cases that led to the status, not just 2, or 3. As Peter already said, with correct absence settings, the shipping time, or delivery time, is adjusted accordingly.
I also can't judge which defects are justified and which aren't. But as mentioned at the beginning, unfortunately there were several that led to the status.
