there are so many questions and so few answers about the new free returns for items in the vehicle parts & accessories category.
First of all, we’d be interested to know whether it’s already known what happens with items that are listed in the "Motors" category but are not spare parts, such as brake cleaner, windshield cleaner, silicone spray, etc.
Does the free return also apply to consumers here?
What about brake spare parts for car trailers?
What about lights for car trailers?
It would be good to know whether all of this is affected as well.
It’s also a real pity that Ebay only gives 4 weeks’ notice to implement all of this, right in the middle of the voucher promotion "MOTORS26" from 03.09.26 to 23.09.26 — that’s what you’d call bad timing.

For brake cleaner, windshield cleaner, silicone sprays and similar products, the rule is that anything that has hazardous substance labeling or is classified as dangerous goods is generally excluded from the mandatory free returns.
For brake parts and lights for car trailers, on the other hand, it depends on the specific category the item is listed in. So in this case, you can’t say in general based on the product type that these items are fundamentally exempt. If none of the exceptions mentioned in the seller portal apply and the listing meets the other requirements, it falls under the new rule.

Hello @handelskontor and @autolackdiscount24 ! One decisive factor is the category of the offer, among other things. There are also other exceptions, for example for hazardous substances.
I’ll check once more for you about brake cleaner, windshield cleaner and silicone spray as well as brake parts and lights for car trailers, and then I’ll get back to you here again.
I can already confirm: The entire category Automotive paint supplies (179421) is excluded from free returns - we also state this in the Seller Portal - Free returns for vehicle parts & accessories.

On Monday I spoke with Ebay support. They still don’t know whether, for example, brake cleaner, glass cleaner, silicone spray, etc. also fall under the free returns policy.
I was promised a response for the next day, but now 48 hours have passed and still nothing.
It’s a shame that so little information is coming about this major change.
Maybe Ebay is reading along here and can help us sellers with more detailed info.

We’re asking ourselves the same question right now, since in our case it’s consumables that would have to go in the category.
We would also like to know whether this product is affected. Unfortunately, there’s no alternative category where we could place our items. As always, it once again means a lot of administrative work for the seller.
