Partial refund tool disabled
Summary: handelskontor reports a problem with a disabled partial refund tool on eBay that they noticed while trying to issue a refund. perfect-sally confirms that they only know about the normal refund option and also have no further information. kometenhuhn explains that deductions on returns are normally possible, but that this feature is not available to all sellers. petersmodellbahnstuebchen mentions that according to eBay Help, partial refunds are still available, while bixtron points out that the button sometimes disappears and then a case has to be opened via "eBay einschalten".
Hello everyone,
I was just about to refund an item that had been sent back by the customer, less a partial refund.
The item came back used, dirty, and incomplete.
In the process, I had to find out that this function is currently not available.
The call to the seller hotline revealed that Ebay has currently deactivated this partial refund tool.
Whether and when it will be reactivated again is not yet known.
Have you also had the same experience and learned anything different about it?
Best regards

OP3 weeks agoHello,
I have now been given a 5-day deadline by eBay to get an external report on the defect/damage prepared. I can then upload it within the return process.
We’ll see what that will cost. After all, it’s a €70 item.

·3 weeks ago · EditedHello,
now and then it happens that the button disappears completely, then you have to go via "eBay einschalten". There you can then open the case, specify the reason and the amount of the deduction.

·3 weeks agoHi @handelskontor
As far as I know, that partial refunds are currently deactivated is not something I’m aware of.
According to eBay Help, they are still available.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

·3 weeks agoI don’t know of any special tool you could use to send a partial refund, only the option in the drop-down menu next to the sold item, “Send refund”.
And if customer service says something was deactivated and doesn’t work, then unfortunately we also don’t have any other information about it.
We can’t make any inquiries within the community before Monday either.

·3 weeks agoNormally, there is the option to deduct partial amounts for returns. This is then stored as a button within the refund.
To my knowledge, though, this is not completely disabled, but is not made available to all providers. I can’t say why not to everyone :)
