Complete drop in sales since the update (09/11) – Who else is affected?
Summary: artshirt24 reports a dramatic drop in sales on eBay since an update, which is confirmed by other sellers such as mmstore74 and motomona09. Many see technical problems as the cause, while eBay denies this. holzbauprofi24 complains about additional fees and restrictions that force sellers into paid advertising. Discussion participants such as rundum66 express concern about the financial burden and the platform's long-term viability. Some are considering alternatives outside of eBay to secure their sales.
Hello everyone,
I’ve been active on eBay for over 26 years, 20 of them as a business seller. I’ve never experienced anything like this in a quarter of a century: Since last Friday, my sales have suddenly dropped to exactly €0.00 — and this situation has remained unchanged to this day (Wednesday).
Since this drop lines up exactly in time with the major eBay update from last Friday, I suspect there’s a technical issue behind it. So far, however, customer service sees no connection.
To rule out my own technical errors or display bugs, I’d like to ask around: Is anyone else experiencing this right now?
I’d appreciate any feedback and experiences.
Best regards
Marc
P.S: I can count the days with €0 sales on one hand over the past 20 years. Right now it’s been going on for almost a week ...

·5 days ago · EditedHello Marc, I’m affected by this too, Petra here, 26 years on ebay. A drastic drop in sales, traffic is only showing red numbers now despite the status "Top-rated" and a 0.00% defect rate.
For around six weeks now this has been going on. My shop has been made practically invisible overnight, and there’s an absolute sales slump.
Before this drop at the end of August / beginning of September 2026, my shop had been running very well and steadily for over 12 months.
On top of the current visibility brake there is massive economic pressure: we commercial sellers faithfully pay our shop subscriptions every month – and for eBay that is definitely not pocket change, but secures the platform fixed, reliable income. But that one now also has to invest average ad fees of 9% to 13% just to still be noticed by the algorithm at all is clearly going too far. Hardly any seller can shoulder these extra costs.
I would also like to point out, politely but very clearly: if commercial sellers are slowly disappearing because of such dry spells through no fault of their own and suffocating fee structures, eBay loses its most important asset – namely professionalism, first-class service, legal certainty, and the old-school sellers.
Best regards,
Petra

·5 days ago · EditedYes:
I sold it for €20, since I didn’t have a direct price comparison. Kind of annoying for the customer, who probably added the game to their other games because they happened to see it in my shop...

·5 days ago · EditedToday the AI-hypocrite emails are back again, with fake metrics and requests to do this and that and pay for it so they can finally start selling :D

·1 week agoThat was the case for me too, not a single sale last week, I’ve never experienced that in 20 years!
Sales started again on Sunday, but eBay has changed a lot now and honestly, it’s barely possible to keep track of it all!
mmstore74
·1 week agoHello @bixtron ,I know that only too well.
It was supposed to be 89.99 € and it ended up being 8,999.00 €uro, well that would be fees for eBay 🤣🤣

·1 week ago · EditedAgain, generally speaking... You notice stuff like this and much more when you carefully check your own listing here:
Item is in stock.
Search says no.
This morning I listed 3 game consoles. 2x €69.90 and 1x €64.90. One of the more expensive consoles is gone. The cheaper console (even a newer model) has 1/6 of the views of the sold, older model. Why? Because eBay shows it at €649.
The other, more expensive one also only has 1/3 of the views. Neither has watchers or any other interactions. What’s funny is that the more expensive, older model with the most signs of use sold immediately.
Here I’m supposed to assume that this is natural and not somehow completely manipulated or just due to errors..
I just raised the price by €10 to €74.90 - eBay turns that into €749. Great for anyone who doesn’t notice! After trying to correct it, it’s now €7,500 :-) Who’ll bid more? Anyone interested? The watchers are probably thrilled...
Several hundred euros a month for this kind of thing?

·1 week agoYou’re supposed to book campaigns that aren’t cheap too; that way your margin melts away. For me it’s even worse: Ebay has been withholding the sales proceeds for 30 days on a rolling basis for over 12 months, even though there are no open cases. I’ve been a member for over 15 years, have 100% positive feedback, and my service status is Top.
Ebay doesn’t care about that either, not even that they’re violating §307 of the BGB, because they invoke Luxembourg laws; anything to do with money is handled by Ebay in Luxembourg, clever move!
For me it started in 2024 that I suddenly had hardly any sales anymore. I then analyzed my visitor numbers and found that something wasn’t right. Until I eventually figured out that Ebay had placed my products way down low and I’m basically supposed to buy “advertising” so people can find my products.
What Ebay is doing is total rip-off; why do you pay 40 euros a month for Seller Cockpit Pro if my products can’t be found?
Cancelled Cockpit Pro, I can save the 500 euros a year.
I’ve solved it differently now: I still use Ebay, but I’m focusing more on sales outside of Ebay. For that I made my own homepage with a shop, which took me 2 days, and my website looks great. Then I also opened a business account on Kleinanzeigen, and what can I say, everything is slowly picking up.
You can’t completely do without Ebay, but you can also open a shop outside of Ebay.
Ebay is no longer as attractive as it was 4 or 5 years ago. Ebay knows that more and more sellers are turning their backs on Ebay and, to make up for the loss in profit, Ebay keeps trying to offset the profit through various fee increases. That may work for a while, but not in the long run, because it causes Ebay to lose customers.
I used to be someone who bought a lot through Ebay myself; nowadays I rarely buy on Ebay because this marketplace no longer convinces me as a buyer either. It’s the same for many others; they just don’t buy on Ebay anymore

·1 week agoHello
Same here. Sales have absolutely plummeted. I've been selling almost nothing for weeks now.
mmstore74
·2 weeks agoStill a mystery to me, and even if there are " several articles of it online ", the page views for an auction that runs 7 days are more than sad, or am I whining on a high level again?
bixtron
·2 weeks agoNo, many have that. Sometimes it feels like roulette... Today it's sellers A-G and items A-C, and tomorrow different ones... A lot of it can’t be explained (if there supposedly aren’t any technical limitations)
holzbauprofi24
·1 week agoNo, Ebay is trying to force the seller to buy "advertising", to buy "impressions"; that's how Ebay makes money, and not a small amount at that!
bixtron
·1 week agoYes, I know. A lot of these greedy companies have done that - made the base so bad that you have to buy more :)
mmstore74
·3 weeks agoHello @artshirt24 ,has it gotten any better for you?
I had / have some auctions, and for the ones that expired I didn't even get 5 page views in 7 days.
Best wishes

·3 weeks agoHello,
that’s simply due to the broken platform. Every tiny little bit counts... It just keeps going downhill and, in my opinion, eBay definitely has no future.
motomona09
·3 weeks agoI can confirm that. I sold items on 10/9/26 and everything went smoothly. On 13/9/26, the same buyer bought three more items, which have since been stuck together with other items that expired on the same day on the Active page. They haven’t moved over to the list of orders, so I can’t send the buyer a total invoice. Support also told me something about problems in the USA and that I should wait - but now I’ve already been waiting 5 days for something to finally happen. 5 days!!! BUT NOTHING HAS HAPPENED!!! Are the people so incompetent that they can’t fix it in that time, or do they פשוט not care. I’m really getting pissed off now. A sales platform on which you can’t sell is completely pointless, of course.

·1 week agoHello, I have the same problem. The inactive items are still in my active list even though no duration is specified. I also can’t delete or change these items. According to Ebay, it’s a system error. I first called customer service on 13/09/2026. Then on 16/09 and on 22/09. You just get fobbed off - supposedly they’re working on it. Nothing is happening
mmstore74
·3 weeks agoGood morning namesake 😁 @artshirt24 , I can confirm exactly the same thing, neither sales, nor watchers, and even price suggestions, where I usually could send 5 - 10 per day = 0
What also makes me very suspicious is that I have had several auctions running for almost 6 days, no page views at all, and that in 6 days and auction.
Kind regards
Marc

OP3 weeks agoGood morning Marc, ;)
it looks exactly the same for me too! There are practically (almost) no days for me without orders via eBay. Also to the extent you mentioned. I can practically count on one hand the times I’ve had a 0-EUR sales round on eBay. And that over a commercial period of 20 years. And now for almost a week.
Of course eBay would never admit that it’s due to a technical error. But this is really extremely unusual ...
Best regards,
Marc
