Urgent increase in sales limit needed – no working way to contact eBay
Summary: balkonstromgmbh from a company selling solar products is experiencing difficulties in contacting eBay to increase their monthly sales limit, which is nearly maxed out due to their high-priced items. They've tried various channels without success, prompting them to seek community and eBay team assistance. perfect-sally and simplethinking discuss potential reasons for the issue, including negative ratings and few reviews. Concerns about price discrepancies between their website and eBay are discussed, with explanations provided by balkonstromgmbh. anna_s@ebay, an eBay representative, offers to assist and confirms that an email communication has been initiated to resolve the issue.
Hello everyone,
we are a commercial seller (Balkonstrom GmbH) in the area of balcony power plants/solar storage and are facing an urgent problem, for which we have not been able to find a working way to contact eBay for days.
Our request: We would like to apply for an increase to our monthly selling limit (currently €2 million, nearly exhausted by our higher-priced range). Several hundred items currently cannot be listed.
What we have already tried:
- Contact form ("Send us an email"): constant error message "Your message cannot currently be processed"
- Phone support: After going through the help chat, no option for phone number/callback is shown to us anymore
- Automated email reply refers us back to the above-mentioned (non-working) ways
Does anyone here currently have experience with how, as a commercial seller, you can still reach a real contact person at eBay for a limit increase? Or is there someone from the eBay team reading this who can help us?
Thank you very much for any help!
Best regards

·1 month ago@balkonstromgmbh , what stood out besides your actual concerns is ....
Your variant names are totally crazy: color + length ?
Why don’t you call it what’s actually behind the variants ?
balkonstromgmbh
OP1 month ago · Edited@gebraucht-ist-gut Because we work with Channable as an API, and these are predefined variant fields.
If you have a better solution here, I’d be very happy!

Could you maybe help us out?

This isn't really an answer to your question, but:
Until eBay adjusts this, you can lower the number of the higher-priced items. Then at least you can list and offer other items for now. Once the limit has been increased, you can change it back up again. Of course, that's not ideal, but maybe it's a temporary solution.

OP1 month agoThank you very much for the help.
We have already reduced the quantity for some items, and because our items are fairly high-priced, it just barely leaves us enough to put one more item online (without variants) :(
Nevertheless, thank you very much for the tip! Best regards
perfect-sally
·1 month agoWell, with your current status, with the negative rating and the not really many ratings, an increase is going to be difficult.
@samantha@ebay could you please take a look? Thanks
simplethinking
·1 month agoWell, if you sell higher-priced items, you can’t get as many reviews as with cheaper ones. And you can pick up one negative pretty quickly when the parcel service is playing football again or the buyer doesn’t know how to program something. It’s just hard to have 1000 positive reviews at 100% right off the bat. Especially with special items.
Anyway, have a nice week
Best regards

I see it exactly the same way, and thanks so much for the support/confirmation.

·1 month ago · EditedPricing is up to each person, of course - but compared to the prices on the homepage and on eBay, clear differences can be seen.
I may well be wrong, since I’m not familiar with the subject - it just stood out to me right away when comparing it with the listing.
simplethinking
·1 month ago · EditedMaybe because you can't charge the same prices because eBay wants to get a cut too? As a business seller, you have to give up a few percent in fees.

OP1 month ago@kometenhuhn exactly as @simplethinking says.
The price differences between marketplaces and our own shop result from marketplace-specific costs (sales commissions, payment processing fees, etc.) that are incurred on eBay & Co. but not in our own shop. This is common practice for most multichannel retailers. We still strive to remain fair and competitive on every channel.

·1 month ago · EditedI’ve seen price differences of 500% and more in some cases, for (what I think are) identical items in the four-digit range. But I could also be wrong, since I’m not really familiar with the topic or the items themselves.

OP1 month agoThat actually can't be the case, and would make little sense.
But thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely take a look at it.

·1 month agoHello,
Then, as a well-intentioned tip: Remove all advertising for your own online shop (e.g. the video) and bring the legal requirements up to scratch.
The former is also strictly prohibited by eBay and will sooner or later lead to sanctions.
balkonstromgmbh
OP1 month ago@bixtron thanks a lot for the heads-up.
We will remove the video immediately.
As for the legal requirements, I could not determine any violations on our part.
