Peer group 6.29% – why 5% additional sales commission?
Summary: silber-kiste-de describes a problem with service statistics and an additional 5% surcharge on the sales commission due to a 6.29% rate in their peer group. They find this unfair, since buyers often initiate returns with reasons like "item damaged" or "item not as described" in order to get free return shipping. They ask about similar experiences and possible measures to change the rating or classification.
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my service statistics. In my peer group, 6.29% is currently being displayed. As a result, I have to pay an additional 5% surcharge on the sales commission.
Honestly, I don't think that's entirely fair, because it often happens that experienced eBay buyers want to return an item and state “item damaged” or “item not as described” as the reason for return, because the return is then free for them.
In my opinion, eBay often can't really verify whether this reason is actually true. Nevertheless, the return is included in the service statistics, and as a result I'm charged a significantly higher commission.
How is it with you? Have you had similar experiences with the peer group or this 5% additional commission? Is there anything you can do about it, or can the assessment or classification be changed?

·2 weeks agoI know that too, unfortunately; it’s just way too easy for the buyer. The buyer can send the item back for free and eBay doesn’t care. I once had a case where the buyer photographed the still sealed package, then uploaded the picture and gave the reason “not as described.” There’s nothing you can do about it because eBay doesn’t really care.
