Shipping labels cannot be canceled
Summary: simplethinking reports difficulties with eBay, where shipping labels are marked as used immediately and can no longer be canceled, which is especially problematic when changes are needed. hoffigr suggests using the app, as the problem could be solved there, but simplethinking notes that it doesn’t work in either the app or on the PC. perfect-sally recommends not buying postage through eBay, since there are also no proper invoices for the labels. simplethinking considers finding alternative solutions and points out problems with invoicing.
Hello everyone,
It’s kind of maddening. You create a label and eBay immediately marks it as used. That means it can no longer be canceled. Why is it done that way? Sometimes it works. I’d now have to cancel 2 labels because my weight is higher (not me, but the parcels 😆). But that’s not possible. Still, I don’t see why I should have to buy another one without canceling the other. eBay does make money from labels for business sellers. So it should be possible for it to work properly. In any case, the money is taken immediately. That always works 100%...
Just because a buyer has a drop-off location with DHL, eBay shouldn’t be able to block the cancellation. I already had this happen recently. DHL doesn’t help here and doesn’t refund it either. They refer you to eBay because that’s their problem.

·2 weeks agoAnother reason not to frank via eBay, which I haven't done since the forced introduction of having to pay with credit. And furthermore, there are no proper invoices for labels bought on eBay.

OP2 weeks agoI’ll think about that too. Let’s see if you can program something via the API. And invoices are a different topic anyway. Those discrepancies with VAT always. In accounting, always great...

·2 weeks ago · EditedHello,
You can also pull the delivery data in the DP shop, they already have an interface set up. Just like the DHL portals, etc.
But caution is needed here. For example, the DHL portal recently pulled the buyer’s billing address because their delivery address was not correct.
As for the stamps: I can’t imagine that a leave-at-door authorization that the recipient issues for this shipment makes a cancellation impossible. That’s not part of the service you booked as the sender.
I know the back-and-forth of “contact DHL,” then “contact eBay” all too well. Your first point of contact is eBay, since that’s where the money went.

·2 weeks agoJust a little tip from me because I spent ages looking for it the other day too...
On the PC there’s nothing to find about it, but in the app it works without any problems. Of course I don’t know whether it’s different for business accounts, I only found it by chance in the app.

OP2 weeks agoHello,
It doesn't work via the app or on the PC. That seems to be an eBay bug. They really should finally get their act together with their errors.
Best regards
