How should I deal with the buyer here?

Hello, I have a problem with a buyer and am asking for support. I sold a used PC for €35 plus shipping costs. Two days after delivery, the buyer left negative feedback and at the same time demanded a refund of the purchase price. Before that, he had already written to me saying that he wanted to handle a payment outside of eBay. Packaging Shipping was done in double cardboard: PC wrapped in bubble wrap, inside that an inner box, packing material all around, the whole thing in an additionally reinforced moving box as the outer box. The contents were completely fixed in place and could not move. I use this packaging method for all complete systems; so far, no shipping damage has occurred. Process The package was with the buyer for two days before the first complaint came in. It contains three points: There is supposed to be a dent on the case that was already there before shipping. On the photos in the listing, no dent is visible at this spot. The system does not start; during transport, a component probably came loose. I did not explicitly state that DDR3 ECC memory is installed, and one case screw is missing. On point 3: The Fujitsu Celsius W530 is equipped as a workstation from the factory with DDR3-UDIMM-ECC — that corresponds to the standard configuration of this model series and can be verified in the Fujitsu datasheets. The side panel of the W530 is also locked via a lever mechanism and is not screwed on; so nothing is missing there.

From the photos sent by the buyer, it is clear that the system was no longer in the condition it was delivered in at the time the pictures were taken. The bubble wrap is lying loose in the box instead of being wrapped around the case as it was when shipped. The images therefore do not show my packaging, but rather a condition after unpacking and placing the system back in. As proof of inadequate transport protection, they are therefore not suitable.
By phone, I offered the buyer to replace the power supply. He did not take me up on that. To avoid dragging the matter out any further, I then refunded him the full purchase price without the device being returned. Since then, the buyer has had both the computer and the purchase price. From my point of view, that settled the matter. However, since then the buyer has been demanding by phone and now also in writing an additional payment: either a "disposal fee" or the cost of return shipping. The calls are coming in with a conspicuous frequency. I then asked the buyer to conduct communication exclusively in writing via eBay. The sequence described apparently does not only affect my sale. A look at the feedback the buyer has left publicly shows that other sellers have experienced the same or a similar sequence Reporting the buyer seems to bring nothing since this account is older than my grandson. Do you have any other suggestion what one can do. He has already been reported and blocked, but I can already see the payment demand from this guy in my mail...

Help for sellers, eBay service and requesting help by ignoring it, not paying attention to facts and evidence, general service for sellers

For some time now I’ve only had problems with eBay’s service, here is a copy of my complaint because my account has just been restricted and the service status has been downgraded. I’m wondering whether anyone has had similar or the same experiences. Downgrade of my service status, I want a detailed explanation for the downgrade of my status. I’ve seen the statistics and currently there are no issues and all older cases have already been resolved. I always tried to sort things out peacefully and politely with rude buyers; on advice I accepted returns that were based on lies, e.g. about the condition. I always write a detailed description and upload detailed pictures of the item, including any damage or signs of use, and yet you are forced to accept the return if someone claims the item is not as described, although that clearly isn’t true. Then there was the case where the buyer claimed the item had not arrived, and I researched through very opaque DHL pages and was able to present confirmation from the delivery person that the shipment had been delivered, but just because there was no tracking number, the decision was made against me and I had to refund, even though from the very beginning there had been a dispute with the buyer in which I was insulted, threatened, defamed and blackmailed, and I reported that several times and asked for help and you did absolutely nothing to help, although the buyer had demonstrably violated several basic principles and even announced that he would claim he had not received the parcel before it was delivered. Even when I reported that with proof, I had to refund it anyway, which was outrageous. I am really angry and dissatisfied. My service status was supposedly above average at the time, but I was treated below average, and although there was evidence and proof, every time the decision was made in the other party’s favor. That is an insult. Now to downgrade my service status, look at my entire history since I signed up as well as the reviews — if you had deleted the negative review, which was your duty, from the buyer who insulted, blackmailed, threatened and defamed me and in the end, with your help, ripped me off, then there would also have been the only negative review from all my sales. Then there was the case of the person who bought 2 expensive branded trousers, new and unworn, without tags, and kept claiming they had not arrived until he tried to blackmail a partial refund because he supposedly thinks the trousers smell. He said I should pay for cleaning, which of course would have changed the condition and deviated from my description if I had washed them myself, where I stated that the trousers had been unused in my grandparents’ wardrobe for at least 2 years; he had bought them shortly before his death and they had never been worn, so of course they don’t smell fresh, and many people don’t find the smell of old people fresh anyway, but that was only a pretext. The trousers had cost 70€ each and were unworn, so like new; wash them once and done — you do that after buying a pair of trousers at the mall too. He got both trousers without shipping costs for 25€ and still wanted another 10–15€, but only because he did not state after this demand that he had already received the item long ago, that was again held against me, and the buyer certainly had no consequences for the attempted blackmail, knowing you. What happened to the good service and service employees from the past who still acted fairly and properly and looked at the cases carefully, especially when they still received clues? I had of course reported this too so that the buyer would be held accountable for this outrageous behavior and violation of the rules, and the false claim that the item had not arrived would be deleted from my account. It may be that 2–3 times I shipped a day later than the processing time, which is why I have now also extended the handling time by one day, because things can come up for anyone. I also apologized to the buyer each time. The fact is that nowadays you can’t even send the smallest item without a tracking number, even if a simple 0.95 cent letter would be enough, because someone can simply claim it did not arrive even if it did arrive, which is to the disadvantage of honest buyers who save so much money on shipping and to the disadvantage of small private sellers like me, because items with expensive shipping obviously sell less well than those with low or free shipping. Even with a sworn statement from the local regular delivery person, scammers are helped here in ripping people off, and the regular delivery person in a small village or on his route knows every house exactly and can usually still remember one or two weeks after delivery whether he delivered something or not, especially if he is given an exact description of the shipment. So I think it is a downright outrageous imposition that I have now been told, without reason, that my service status is being set from above average straight down to below average, and that my account is also being restricted for no apparent reason, at a time when, without advertising, which is how you make your money, you hardly have a chance to sell anything well. I had already wondered why nothing had been bought for quite a while, but I am being blatantly harassed by you. You have repeatedly failed to help me even though there was evidence and I really needed your support; even after review, you did nothing, and now this harassment of restricting the account and downgrading the service status despite an almost spotless sales history. I have seen other accounts with 70–80% positive ratings and the rest negative complaints where people did not receive their items or were sent empty boxes, and because a tracking number existed, they did not get their money back, which has already happened to me as well. Do you expect people to film every purchase as they open the parcel in order to prove something like that? I used to have another account, whose login details I unfortunately forgot, which I ran from 2010 to 2019 with 100% positive ratings and an annual turnover of an average of 2000€; at that time, sellers were still helped in difficult cases with complicated buyers. I always behave friendly and always try to stay calm when there is a problem and sort it out with the buyer without a dispute to the buyer’s satisfaction, and if I realize it isn’t working I offer to take the item back and refund the money, but some buyers are so outrageous and provoke and insult you, accuse you of things, etc., as I already mentioned above. I’m going to put all this online now in forums and the community to warn other people and find people with the same experiences and exchange views with them. And I expect a new proper analysis regarding my service status and, of course, the restriction to be lifted, and during the analysis you should carefully examine the individual cases this time, especially the ones where I had to report the other person several times and repeatedly asked for help and support in vain, by phone and in writing! Kind regards

A thank you for the clarification & a question about using the blocklist

Hello everyone, I've been reading along in the forum for quite a while now and would just like to take this opportunity to thank the experienced members and mentors. It's really helpful how matter-of-factly it's regularly pointed out here that before making a sale, you should also take a look at a potential buyer's given ratings. Thanks to this educational work, especially as a private seller you learn very well how to spot unfair expectations or unnecessary trouble early on. That's real support, and I just wanted to say a quick thank you for it. Based on this topic, I'd be interested in your practical experience: Do you now also use the buyer blocklist purely preventively? So that you put bidders or buyers who stand out to you because of a very negative or destructive rating profile with others straight onto the blocklist, before a purchase even happens? Has this forward-looking strategy already saved you from problems in everyday selling? As for me personally, I actively do this after reading the relevant tip here: I look at the ratings left, and if I feel uneasy while reading them, the user is blocked immediately. I look forward to a factual exchange and your opinions on this. Best regards!

Mandatory waiting period for business operators before rating

Hello and good evening everyone ! I’d like to know why, as a private buyer, with some traders I have to wait 7 days before I can leave a review of any kind. In my view, that would mean the seller has free rein for any activities during that time, even though a justified, politically correct neutral or negative review would be appropriate. What do you think about that ?
