Buyer protection case since July - eBay isn't answering the real questions: how do you contact a specialist department?

Hello everyone, I’ve been trying since July to get eBay to answer a specific question about a buyer protection case — so far without success. Maybe someone here has experience with how you can actually reach the responsible specialist department. I had sold a BMW motorcycle leather pant as new with original tags . The buyer then claimed, among other things, that the pants had been worn, showed signs of use or hairs, and were delivered without tags. eBay told me at the time that they shared the buyer’s account “ partially .” Later, they said there was a “ significant deviation from the item description .” Since then, I keep asking the same question: What specific deviation did eBay actually determine, and on what specific evidence was that determination based? To this day, that exact question has not been answered. On top of that: eBay asked the buyer to return the item and explicitly told me that I did not need to do anything further at first. The pants were then returned without the original tags that had originally been attached . For a return in altered condition, eBay had previously explicitly announced an “ individual solution ” to me. I also never received a comprehensible answer about that later on. Later, out of nowhere, I was told the case had been decided in the buyer’s favor because I had not provided a return label. The eBay data report I requested in the meantime, however, lists the internal closing code “ itemDelieredForForcedReturn ” for the case, among other things. What this specifically means and how it fits with the later explanation was also not explained. My explicit question about whether the decisive decision was made entirely manually or fully/partly automatically also went unanswered. The buyer’s negative feedback was later removed by eBay because it violated the feedback policy. I’m aware that this does not automatically say anything about whether the buyer protection case was justified; for me, though, it is part of the overall picture of this process. I contacted customer service multiple times, filed a formal complaint, and explicitly made clear that I am not requesting any further appeal . Still, the latest response I received was again only that my appeal had been finally denied and that I should refrain from any further inquiries. But that does not answer my question. At this point, it’s not primarily about the purchase price for me. I simply want to be able to understand: What specific fact did eBay consider proven at the time, and what was that determination based on? Has anyone here ever had a comparable case and actually reached a department at eBay that could explain the specific basis for the decision? Thanks for any helpful advice.

Disappointing eBay customer service – specific questions are repeatedly left unanswered

I’d like to share my current experience with eBay customer service here, because I now honestly find the way my issue has been handled really disappointing. It all started with a simple goodwill request regarding an eBay Plus voucher worth €10. The voucher was used for a purchase, the item was then returned, and the voucher was not credited back. I am well aware that, according to the terms, vouchers may not have to be refunded. That is exactly why I had explicitly asked for a goodwill review. After the first agent declined this, I explicitly asked for my issue to be forwarded to a higher responsible department or a complaints department. That was not addressed at all. I then explicitly pointed out again that my actual question had not been answered and asked once more for it to be forwarded. The next reply again only addressed the fact that no voucher could be issued. My specific request for escalation or forwarding was again not answered. That is exactly what I find problematic. At this point it is less about the €10 and more about the way the communication is handled. From my point of view, specific questions are being deliberately sidestepped, explicit requests are not being addressed, and instead you keep getting essentially the same standard reply over and over again. If an employee themselves has no way to make a goodwill decision, that is completely fine with me. But then I would at least expect that an explicitly requested forwarding to the responsible department is reviewed or that it is explained in a way that makes sense why this supposedly isn’t possible. Has anyone had similar experiences? Is there even still a way at eBay to have an issue actually forwarded to a complaints department or a higher support level?

Problem with pickup code and withheld payout – no solution despite five customer service contacts

Hello everyone, I have a problem with a sale and hope that someone here knows a solution. I have been an eBay customer for around 20 years and have also been an eBay Plus customer for many years. My current sale is a digital item worth 12 euros, which I already sent to the buyer by email. Unfortunately, when creating the listing, I accidentally selected “pickup” as the handover method. Now the buyer apparently needs to confirm a pickup code or QR code. However, the buyer can’t find this code anywhere. As a result, the handover is not confirmed on eBay and my payout of 12 euros remains withheld. What’s especially frustrating is that today I have already spoken with five different eBay customer service representatives. Unfortunately, no one could offer me a solution. Instead, I was transferred several times, and apparently no one was responsible for the specific case. I don’t understand why eBay doesn’t offer a way in such an exceptional case to confirm the already completed handover of the digital item or to release the payout manually. I’m not asking for special treatment, just a workable solution for an obvious mistake when creating the listing. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? Is there a way to correct the pickup or handover afterward, or to release the payout? What experiences have you had with cases like this? Thank you very much for your help.

No payout since July – deadlines repeatedly extended

Hello eBay team, I am asking for support from a staff member who will review my case conclusively and arrange the outstanding payout of 2,130.98 euros. Since July, despite numerous contacts, I have repeatedly been referred to an “expert team.” Nothing has been paid out to date. The buyer wanted to cancel the purchase after payment. When I did not agree to this, he announced that he would involve eBay or PayPal if I shipped the PC. I sent it on July 7; according to DHL, it was personally delivered on July 10. After that, the buyer first reported that he had not received the PC. Due to the proof of delivery, this case was decided against him, and his appeal was also rejected. He then claimed that the PC could not be turned on. This claim is the reason for the current buyer protection case. The buyer did not contact me directly about the alleged defect. According to eBay customer service, the buyer was supposed to submit an expert report. The deadlines I was given were extended several times: first until August 13, later until September 3, and then expressly for the last time until September 20. I was repeatedly told that no expert report had been received. Nevertheless, the payout still did not happen. What is especially incomprehensible is that eBay meanwhile informed me in writing that the buyer protection case had been closed in my favor. After that, I was again told that the expert team would get back to me. Instead of any feedback, I learned that the supposedly final deadline had once again been extended to September 29. Even when I speak to customer service, I am told every time, in essence, that I should be patient and not worry, the case will be reviewed and decided in my favor. I do not get a concrete explanation for the contradiction between these statements and the repeated deadline extensions. Today, after more than two hours in the queue and in the call, I asked to speak with a supervisor. The call was ended without my issue being clarified or me being connected. A deadline is not there to pass without consequence and then be set again and again. I expect eBay to clarify the matter now in a binding way and to arrange the payout of 2,130.98 euros no later than the expiry of the now again (“for the last time”) set deadline on September 29. If no payout is made by then, I will contact the consumer advice center and take legal action. In addition, I will forward this case to every social media channel in Germany that I can find and that deals with legal issues or consumer protection, in the hope that this case will make very big waves. Another vague reassurance is not a solution for me. I can share the eBay messages and the DHL proof of delivery as well as the case number and documents for review via a private channel.

Why should a buyer cover the costs of return shipping (presumably to the Far East) when incorrect items are delivered?

Hello everyone, I’m looking for your experiences and opinions on a topic, because I have a few questions I don’t understand, since I can’t make sense of the logic. If someone from ebay is reading along and asks which case?: Case No. 5386995598 Return No. 5328941191 An item was offered on ebay, documented with photos of the goods. After the purchase and delivery, when I unpacked the parcel, I found that I had received the wrong goods, which I had not ordered. I contacted the seller, who stayed silent. Note: This is not a wrong purchase, no mistaken decision in selecting the item, and not my exercise of the right of withdrawal, but rather a complaint about goods delivered incorrectly. After the required waiting period, I involved ebay. The current status is as follows. -Note: I do not have a return label. As the return address, ebay provided me with the following on the same webpage. -Stupid question or does anyone else see it the same way?: Who can spot the two errors here? Here it is to be assumed the seller is based in the Far East, according to a Google search presumably in China, but only presumably China. Something like that cannot be shipped with DHL. Even if it could, then “Return to sender”. For me, that means double shipping costs and the seller keeps my money item / shipping costs. What options are left for me? None except shipping at my own expense .... or I stay silent without providing a shipping number and do not get my money back or receive a replacement item either. Contacting ebay is not possible online in this case / process. Is that the end of it already? No, in the event of non-deliverability, there will be additional costs of around 15.00 for me for the return shipment of the goods I complained about back to me as the sender. Now to my questions: Why do I have to pay the return shipping costs for a complaint identified immediately, even though the mistake here is clearly with the seller? Even if I could ship it, I pay and bear the return shipping costs because of a seller error of 25.49 euros? Why does the seller provide a shipping address on ebay that presumably cannot even be delivered to? Are we being measured by different standards here? -Same seller, same delivery with the above-mentioned goods in a shipping box, and here too the wrong goods were delivered. -The seller was contacted, again there was silence, ebay was involved, the result: a credit without return shipping -Case: Case No. 5386995643 / Return No. 5328941165 Regards Klaus

Critical System Bug: Sept 13 Listings Stuck Dual-Active/Inactive / Sold Missing in Orders / SR# 1-508680571078

My auctions from September 13th are stuck in a critical system bug: both sold and unsold listings show up as active AND inactive. Sold items do not appear in my 'Orders' section, and buyers cannot see or pay for them on their end. Multiple messages & calls: I have sent numerous messages and made a call where I was promised a resolution within 3 days. It has now been over two weeks with no fix. Manual fix proven possible: During my call on Sept 18, an agent was manually unfreeze ONE item in less then minute, proving that the issue can be resolved manually on an item level. No updates for 5 days: The last email I received was 5 days ago (Sept 24), stating the case was escalated to the back-end team. Since then, there has been zero progress or communication. Since automated scripts have failed and the back-end team has not resolved this after two weeks, please have a supervisor or senior support manager manually refresh and unfreeze all remaining listings from September 13th so buyers can complete payment. Buyer lost due to eBay's negligence: Due to this issue dragging on for over two weeks without a fix, I have already lost a buyer for a sold item who gave up waiting. Incorrect negative review despite immediate refund – is deletion possible?

Hello dear community, I’d really appreciate your advice, because I’m a bit at a loss right now. I sell trading cards and recently received a negative review with the text “Did not ship my item. Poor communication." Unfortunately, neither of those things is true: I communicated with the buyer quickly and in detail. I prepared the order for shipping as quickly as possible. Shortly before dropping it off at the post office, I even sent the buyer a photo of the fully packed and addressed parcel. Unfortunately, the shipment got lost in transit. When the buyer contacted me, I checked it and refunded him the full amount without discussion. After that, this review still appeared. I requested a review revision through eBay and also wrote to the buyer politely, but since then I haven’t received any response. I wouldn’t have any problem with a justified negative review at all; criticism is part of it. But in this case, the statement is simply not true: the item was demonstrably shipped, and communication was not the issue either. Especially as a small shop, that kind of review obviously hurts, especially since I pay very close attention to my buyers’ satisfaction, as you can see from my other reviews. My questions for you: Is there a way to request the removal of such a review on eBay? If so, where or through which contact method is the best way to do that? What evidence should I provide? I have the message history, the photo of the shipment, and proof of the refund. Has anyone here already had experience with a case like this? Thanks in advance for your help!

Buyer leaves a negative review impulsively, we reach an agreement, but he still can’t delete/change the review

Hello! A buyer leaves a negative review, I come to an agreement with the buyer that the review was not justified, I use the "Request review change" function and select "agreed with buyer" in it, I get the message from ebay that the buyer now has 10 days to change or delete the review. These 10 days expire in 3 days. So far, so good! Now I’ve been back and forth with the buyer for several days because he simply can’t change the review. I don’t know exactly what he has to do for it to work, because I’ve never tried it myself, so I can’t help him either. He writes to me that he has already spent over 24 hours (!) unsuccessfully trying to remove or change this mistaken review, but it just won’t work, because the links lead nowhere or something is greyed out. He says he has already written 140 pages (!) with ebay’s AI and Google without success. He may not be experienced with it, but that already shows that there must be a lack of user-friendliness in the system somewhere! Best regards felsenschulter

New article won’t let you upload images from your phone and then deletes all the data from the draft?

Hello, unfortunately, for over 1 ½ months now I’ve been having the problem that I can no longer upload pictures to my new listings from my phone because the process simply doesn’t load. I usually create my listings on the PC and then add the pictures via my phone. That used to work without any problems: I tapped the corresponding message, the listing opened on my phone, I added the pictures, and then activated it. Now, however, it just keeps loading forever. If I then press the “X” at the top left, the title, product description, and pricing settings even disappear from the listing afterward. At this point it’s really pretty annoying, especially because it used to work without any problems. Could someone please tell me whether eBay is working on this bug and when it will finally be fixed?

Commercial account with top rating blocked – over €5,200 in payouts blocked and no specific reason given

Hello everyone, I’d like to share my experiences from the past few months and find out whether other commercial sellers have had similar experiences. I was a commercial seller with 100% positive feedback, over 500 positive ratings, and Top Rated status. Nevertheless, my seller account was permanently suspended from selling by eBay. To this day, I have not received any concrete or understandable reason for this permanent suspension. In addition, eBay is currently withholding payouts of over €5,200 from my sales. Over the past few months, I had several problematic cases with buyers. These included buyers claiming that goods had not arrived, even though shipping and delivery proof was available, buyers claiming that the wrong goods had been delivered, as well as problematic returns and returns of already used goods. The issue is particularly clear in a case involving a high-quality air conditioning unit. The buyer initially said that the shipment had not arrived. I then opened an investigation and obtained proof of delivery. The buyer subsequently confirmed himself that he had contacted the neighbor and now knew where the shipment was. No defect in the air conditioning unit was claimed. Instead, the buyer said that he had meanwhile bought another air conditioning unit elsewhere and therefore wanted to return my item. I accepted the return and pointed out to the buyer that, in accordance with the return terms stated in the listing, the return shipping costs were to be borne by the buyer. I also mentioned options for how the return of the large freight item could be handled. The return was requested on 25/07. After that, according to my eBay case overview, processing was temporarily suspended on 29/07, 30/07, 10/08, 27/08, and 28/08. This means processing was suspended or extended at least five times. It was not until 10/09 that the case was finally closed. So around seven weeks passed from the return request to the final decision. eBay’s final decision was: “The fault was not yours.” According to eBay, the case is also not counted negatively in the assessment of my service status. Throughout this entire time, I tried to resolve the problems directly with eBay. In total, I called eBay customer service an estimated 30 to 40 times during this period. I had to explain the situation over and over again and repeatedly asked for a clear resolution. Despite this considerable effort, I am now facing the following situation: My seller account is permanently blocked from selling, without any concrete or understandable reason for the suspension being given to me. At the same time, more than €5,200 of my payouts are still being withheld by eBay. All of this concerns a seller account that had 100% positive feedback, Top Rated status, and more than 500 positive ratings. I am now wondering where eBay’s so-called seller protection is supposed to be in cases like this. If eBay offers buyer protection, that is generally understandable and important. But how is a seller protected when proof of delivery is available, a return is accepted and enabled, the seller keeps contacting support for weeks, and eBay ultimately decides the case accordingly? I have documented all relevant processes, buyer communication, shipping and delivery proof, as well as the communication with eBay. I’d be interested to know whether other commercial sellers have had similar experiences. Have you ever experienced a return case being suspended or extended five times or more? Was your seller account permanently suspended despite Top Rated status, without any concrete reason being given? Did eBay also withhold several thousand euros in payouts from you after a suspension? And above all: What experiences have you actually had with eBay seller protection, and how did you manage to get a real manual review of your account?
