    Identity verification for commercial sellers?

Can I, as a commercial seller, arrange an authenticity check myself on eBay, even before I even list the item? If so, how much does it cost?

Buyer protection case since July - eBay isn't answering the real questions: how do you contact a specialist department?

Hello everyone, I’ve been trying since July to get eBay to answer a specific question about a buyer protection case — so far without success. Maybe someone here has experience with how you can actually reach the responsible specialist department. I had sold a BMW motorcycle leather pant as new with original tags . The buyer then claimed, among other things, that the pants had been worn, showed signs of use or hairs, and were delivered without tags. eBay told me at the time that they shared the buyer’s account “ partially .” Later, they said there was a “ significant deviation from the item description .” Since then, I keep asking the same question: What specific deviation did eBay actually determine, and on what specific evidence was that determination based? To this day, that exact question has not been answered. On top of that: eBay asked the buyer to return the item and explicitly told me that I did not need to do anything further at first. The pants were then returned without the original tags that had originally been attached . For a return in altered condition, eBay had previously explicitly announced an “ individual solution ” to me. I also never received a comprehensible answer about that later on. Later, out of nowhere, I was told the case had been decided in the buyer’s favor because I had not provided a return label. The eBay data report I requested in the meantime, however, lists the internal closing code “ itemDelieredForForcedReturn ” for the case, among other things. What this specifically means and how it fits with the later explanation was also not explained. My explicit question about whether the decisive decision was made entirely manually or fully/partly automatically also went unanswered. The buyer’s negative feedback was later removed by eBay because it violated the feedback policy. I’m aware that this does not automatically say anything about whether the buyer protection case was justified; for me, though, it is part of the overall picture of this process. I contacted customer service multiple times, filed a formal complaint, and explicitly made clear that I am not requesting any further appeal . Still, the latest response I received was again only that my appeal had been finally denied and that I should refrain from any further inquiries. But that does not answer my question. At this point, it’s not primarily about the purchase price for me. I simply want to be able to understand: What specific fact did eBay consider proven at the time, and what was that determination based on? Has anyone here ever had a comparable case and actually reached a department at eBay that could explain the specific basis for the decision? Thanks for any helpful advice.

Problem with pickup code and withheld payout – no solution despite five customer service contacts

Hello everyone, I have a problem with a sale and hope that someone here knows a solution. I have been an eBay customer for around 20 years and have also been an eBay Plus customer for many years. My current sale is a digital item worth 12 euros, which I already sent to the buyer by email. Unfortunately, when creating the listing, I accidentally selected “pickup” as the handover method. Now the buyer apparently needs to confirm a pickup code or QR code. However, the buyer can’t find this code anywhere. As a result, the handover is not confirmed on eBay and my payout of 12 euros remains withheld. What’s especially frustrating is that today I have already spoken with five different eBay customer service representatives. Unfortunately, no one could offer me a solution. Instead, I was transferred several times, and apparently no one was responsible for the specific case. I don’t understand why eBay doesn’t offer a way in such an exceptional case to confirm the already completed handover of the digital item or to release the payout manually. I’m not asking for special treatment, just a workable solution for an obvious mistake when creating the listing. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? Is there a way to correct the pickup or handover afterward, or to release the payout? What experiences have you had with cases like this? Thank you very much for your help.

No small images in the order overview for variants?

Hi, Am I the only one who doesn’t get small images displayed when going to the order overview? This only happens with variant items, not with single items. For single items, the image is on eBay when I open it. For variant items, the image is on our hoster. The curious thing is that it’s always different items. Are you having this problem too? Best regards

No payout since July – deadlines repeatedly extended

Hello eBay team, I am asking for support from a staff member who will review my case conclusively and arrange the outstanding payout of 2,130.98 euros. Since July, despite numerous contacts, I have repeatedly been referred to an “expert team.” Nothing has been paid out to date. The buyer wanted to cancel the purchase after payment. When I did not agree to this, he announced that he would involve eBay or PayPal if I shipped the PC. I sent it on July 7; according to DHL, it was personally delivered on July 10. After that, the buyer first reported that he had not received the PC. Due to the proof of delivery, this case was decided against him, and his appeal was also rejected. He then claimed that the PC could not be turned on. This claim is the reason for the current buyer protection case. The buyer did not contact me directly about the alleged defect. According to eBay customer service, the buyer was supposed to submit an expert report. The deadlines I was given were extended several times: first until August 13, later until September 3, and then expressly for the last time until September 20. I was repeatedly told that no expert report had been received. Nevertheless, the payout still did not happen. What is especially incomprehensible is that eBay meanwhile informed me in writing that the buyer protection case had been closed in my favor. After that, I was again told that the expert team would get back to me. Instead of any feedback, I learned that the supposedly final deadline had once again been extended to September 29. Even when I speak to customer service, I am told every time, in essence, that I should be patient and not worry, the case will be reviewed and decided in my favor. I do not get a concrete explanation for the contradiction between these statements and the repeated deadline extensions. Today, after more than two hours in the queue and in the call, I asked to speak with a supervisor. The call was ended without my issue being clarified or me being connected. A deadline is not there to pass without consequence and then be set again and again. I expect eBay to clarify the matter now in a binding way and to arrange the payout of 2,130.98 euros no later than the expiry of the now again (“for the last time”) set deadline on September 29. If no payout is made by then, I will contact the consumer advice center and take legal action. In addition, I will forward this case to every social media channel in Germany that I can find and that deals with legal issues or consumer protection, in the hope that this case will make very big waves. Another vague reassurance is not a solution for me. I can share the eBay messages and the DHL proof of delivery as well as the case number and documents for review via a private channel.

Commercial account with top rating blocked – over €5,200 in payouts blocked and no specific reason given

Hello everyone, I’d like to share my experiences from the past few months and find out whether other commercial sellers have had similar experiences. I was a commercial seller with 100% positive feedback, over 500 positive ratings, and Top Rated status. Nevertheless, my seller account was permanently suspended from selling by eBay. To this day, I have not received any concrete or understandable reason for this permanent suspension. In addition, eBay is currently withholding payouts of over €5,200 from my sales. Over the past few months, I had several problematic cases with buyers. These included buyers claiming that goods had not arrived, even though shipping and delivery proof was available, buyers claiming that the wrong goods had been delivered, as well as problematic returns and returns of already used goods. The issue is particularly clear in a case involving a high-quality air conditioning unit. The buyer initially said that the shipment had not arrived. I then opened an investigation and obtained proof of delivery. The buyer subsequently confirmed himself that he had contacted the neighbor and now knew where the shipment was. No defect in the air conditioning unit was claimed. Instead, the buyer said that he had meanwhile bought another air conditioning unit elsewhere and therefore wanted to return my item. I accepted the return and pointed out to the buyer that, in accordance with the return terms stated in the listing, the return shipping costs were to be borne by the buyer. I also mentioned options for how the return of the large freight item could be handled. The return was requested on 25/07. After that, according to my eBay case overview, processing was temporarily suspended on 29/07, 30/07, 10/08, 27/08, and 28/08. This means processing was suspended or extended at least five times. It was not until 10/09 that the case was finally closed. So around seven weeks passed from the return request to the final decision. eBay’s final decision was: “The fault was not yours.” According to eBay, the case is also not counted negatively in the assessment of my service status. Throughout this entire time, I tried to resolve the problems directly with eBay. In total, I called eBay customer service an estimated 30 to 40 times during this period. I had to explain the situation over and over again and repeatedly asked for a clear resolution. Despite this considerable effort, I am now facing the following situation: My seller account is permanently blocked from selling, without any concrete or understandable reason for the suspension being given to me. At the same time, more than €5,200 of my payouts are still being withheld by eBay. All of this concerns a seller account that had 100% positive feedback, Top Rated status, and more than 500 positive ratings. I am now wondering where eBay’s so-called seller protection is supposed to be in cases like this. If eBay offers buyer protection, that is generally understandable and important. But how is a seller protected when proof of delivery is available, a return is accepted and enabled, the seller keeps contacting support for weeks, and eBay ultimately decides the case accordingly? I have documented all relevant processes, buyer communication, shipping and delivery proof, as well as the communication with eBay. I’d be interested to know whether other commercial sellers have had similar experiences. Have you ever experienced a return case being suspended or extended five times or more? Was your seller account permanently suspended despite Top Rated status, without any concrete reason being given? Did eBay also withhold several thousand euros in payouts from you after a suspension? And above all: What experiences have you actually had with eBay seller protection, and how did you manage to get a real manual review of your account?

Monitoring of age-18+ offerings and suspected commercial private sales

Dear eBay Team, we commercially sell DVDs and Blu-rays with FSK 18 approval and ship them accordingly with age verification in line with your requirements. This results in significant shipping costs for us. At the same time, we see numerous FSK 18 listings on eBay for only 4 to 5 euros including shipping. A low price does not in itself prove a violation. But it does raise the question for us whether a suitable shipping method is actually being used for these listings (with 8.18 euros shipping costs) and how eBay monitors compliance with its requirements. In addition, there are seller accounts that present themselves as private, while at the same time offering thousands of items, including new goods in their original packaging. Here too, we ask you to tell us on the basis of which criteria eBay checks whether commercial activity is taking place. Please answer us specifically: How does eBay check whether FSK 18 items are actually shipped with age verification? What measures does eBay take with listings or sellers that violate these requirements? How does eBay check conspicuous private seller accounts with a very large stock of new goods? We expect fair competitive conditions for sellers who comply with the requirements and bear the associated costs. We would appreciate a specific response. Kind regards

Seller Payouts Blocked – Bank Verification Failed & Trustly Link Not Working

Hello everyone, I am a seller based in Portugal and I am hoping that an eBay mentor or experienced seller can help me with a bank verification problem that has been going on for several weeks. My eBay selling account is working normally and my selling privileges have already been restored after eBay's seller verification. I have successfully sold and delivered items with tracking, and I have no open claims or outstanding seller fees. However, my payouts are currently being held because eBay cannot verify my bank account. I have already tried two different Portuguese SEPA bank accounts. My preferred payout account is with Caixa de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo de Castro Daire CRL, ending in 5051. I also previously tried an account with Caixa Geral de Depósitos, ending in 0059. eBay's verification process involves sending €0.01 to the bank account and subsequently debiting €0.01. This verification has failed. With one of the accounts, the €0.01 credit was received but the subsequent debit failed. My current bank account ending in 5051 appears in eBay under Payments and is marked as “Used for payouts”, but it also shows “Not possible for selling costs.” I have a Visa card ending in 0145 correctly configured as my preferred payment method for selling costs, so I do not need the bank account to pay my normal eBay fees. Nevertheless, eBay apparently still requires the bank account to pass its verification process before my payouts can be released. eBay then sent me an email saying that the €0.01 transfer/debit verification could not be completed and specifically instructed me to link my bank account through eBay's partner Trustly. This is where I have another problem: when I click the “Link bank account” button in that email, Trustly never opens. Instead, eBay redirects me back to exactly the same standard bank verification page asking me to repeat the €0.01 transfer/debit process that has already failed. I have contacted eBay support several times. At different points I was told that: I could verify the bank account by providing an official bank document. A red banner should appear in My eBay allowing me to upload the document. My case would be forwarded internally to a specialist team and I should receive a response within three business days. I should delete/re-enter or add my bank account again. Unfortunately, the document upload option/red banner for uploading documents never appeared. I have checked My eBay, Seller Cockpit/Payments, payout methods, payment information and my personal/account information. I already have recent official bank documents available for both accounts. My personal/tax information on eBay, including my Portuguese tax identification number (NIF), has also been completed. Another difficulty is contacting support. The eBay.de “Call Me” option only offers telephone numbers from Germany (+49), Austria (+43) and Switzerland (+41). I am in Portugal (+351), so I cannot use it. The automated assistant repeatedly sends me back to the same Call Me option even when I explain that I need written assistance. I have now also submitted/sent a formal payment services complaint to eBay S.à r.l. in Luxembourg, including official bank documentation, because my payouts remain blocked. At this stage, what I really need is for eBay to do one of the following: Enable the Trustly verification process correctly on my account; Enable manual bank document verification/upload; Manually review and verify my bank account ending in 5051 (or, if necessary, my alternative account ending in 0059). I do not want to keep deleting and re-adding bank accounts or repeating the same €0.01 verification because this has already failed multiple times and does not address the underlying problem. Has any seller in Portugal or another EU/SEPA country experienced this exact situation? In particular, has an eBay mentor seen a case where the email says to verify through Trustly but the Trustly button simply redirects back to the €0.01 verification page? If a mentor can escalate this or tell me how to reach the correct Payments/Verification team, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you very much for any help. Rui eBay username: dj.hi_17

    Invoices downloading

Hi everyone, Can we upload our own invoices to eBay so that they are automatically available to the customer for the corresponding order? Alternatively, can eBay automatically generate invoices on our behalf, using our company details, VAT information, invoice number, etc., and provide them to the customer? We mean invoices issued by us as the seller to the buyer, not invoices issued by eBay for eBay fees or services. Is either option available directly through eBay Seller Hub, or would this require a third-party integration/API? Thanks in advance!

    Problem with this

Good day, I need your help with this problem. When I tried to sell an item, I received an email about a technical problem when buying a shipping label. I tried it seven times, and only on the eighth attempt did I finally manage to buy the label; however, I have now been charged for the shipping label eight times. Can someone help me?
