Why didn’t I get the full sale amount?

I sold 2 items to a buyer. She paid for shipping twice. I only got one tracking number. Accordingly, I packed that one in a box. It also says for both of them that they were delivered. However, I received far too little money. Instead of €55.79, I only got €26 and a few cents. What is that due to? I had to cancel a label once and issue a new one, all here on eBay.

Payout withheld for 30 days despite confirmed delivery – experiences?

Hello everyone, maybe someone here has already had a similar case and can share their experience with me. As a private seller, I sold a higher-priced item for about €1,124. The buyer paid, I shipped the item with DHL and tracking, and the package was successfully delivered on 23/09. eBay also now shows the shipment as delivered. Even so, the full sale proceeds are being withheld until 21/10/2026. eBay customer service told me that this is due to the high item value and possibly because of infrequent selling activity, and that the amount is being withheld for 30 days. An early release has not been offered to me so far. What I find a bit surprising is this: last year I already sold an iPhone for about €1,600 through eBay. Back then, the sale proceeds were available about two days after successful delivery. So my questions are: Does anyone else currently also have such a 30-day hold on a high-value item? Was the amount actually only released on the date given for you, or possibly earlier after confirmed delivery? Did confirmation from the buyer or a positive review change anything about the hold period? I’m especially interested in current experiences from other private sellers. Thank you!

Problem with pickup code and withheld payout – no solution despite five customer service contacts

Hello everyone, I have a problem with a sale and hope that someone here knows a solution. I have been an eBay customer for around 20 years and have also been an eBay Plus customer for many years. My current sale is a digital item worth 12 euros, which I already sent to the buyer by email. Unfortunately, when creating the listing, I accidentally selected “pickup” as the handover method. Now the buyer apparently needs to confirm a pickup code or QR code. However, the buyer can’t find this code anywhere. As a result, the handover is not confirmed on eBay and my payout of 12 euros remains withheld. What’s especially frustrating is that today I have already spoken with five different eBay customer service representatives. Unfortunately, no one could offer me a solution. Instead, I was transferred several times, and apparently no one was responsible for the specific case. I don’t understand why eBay doesn’t offer a way in such an exceptional case to confirm the already completed handover of the digital item or to release the payout manually. I’m not asking for special treatment, just a workable solution for an obvious mistake when creating the listing. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? Is there a way to correct the pickup or handover afterward, or to release the payout? What experiences have you had with cases like this? Thank you very much for your help.

No small images in the order overview for variants?

Hi, Am I the only one who doesn’t get small images displayed when going to the order overview? This only happens with variant items, not with single items. For single items, the image is on eBay when I open it. For variant items, the image is on our hoster. The curious thing is that it’s always different items. Are you having this problem too? Best regards

No payout since July – deadlines repeatedly extended

Hello eBay team, I am asking for support from a staff member who will review my case conclusively and arrange the outstanding payout of 2,130.98 euros. Since July, despite numerous contacts, I have repeatedly been referred to an “expert team.” Nothing has been paid out to date. The buyer wanted to cancel the purchase after payment. When I did not agree to this, he announced that he would involve eBay or PayPal if I shipped the PC. I sent it on July 7; according to DHL, it was personally delivered on July 10. After that, the buyer first reported that he had not received the PC. Due to the proof of delivery, this case was decided against him, and his appeal was also rejected. He then claimed that the PC could not be turned on. This claim is the reason for the current buyer protection case. The buyer did not contact me directly about the alleged defect. According to eBay customer service, the buyer was supposed to submit an expert report. The deadlines I was given were extended several times: first until August 13, later until September 3, and then expressly for the last time until September 20. I was repeatedly told that no expert report had been received. Nevertheless, the payout still did not happen. What is especially incomprehensible is that eBay meanwhile informed me in writing that the buyer protection case had been closed in my favor. After that, I was again told that the expert team would get back to me. Instead of any feedback, I learned that the supposedly final deadline had once again been extended to September 29. Even when I speak to customer service, I am told every time, in essence, that I should be patient and not worry, the case will be reviewed and decided in my favor. I do not get a concrete explanation for the contradiction between these statements and the repeated deadline extensions. Today, after more than two hours in the queue and in the call, I asked to speak with a supervisor. The call was ended without my issue being clarified or me being connected. A deadline is not there to pass without consequence and then be set again and again. I expect eBay to clarify the matter now in a binding way and to arrange the payout of 2,130.98 euros no later than the expiry of the now again (“for the last time”) set deadline on September 29. If no payout is made by then, I will contact the consumer advice center and take legal action. In addition, I will forward this case to every social media channel in Germany that I can find and that deals with legal issues or consumer protection, in the hope that this case will make very big waves. Another vague reassurance is not a solution for me. I can share the eBay messages and the DHL proof of delivery as well as the case number and documents for review via a private channel.

Why should a buyer cover the costs of return shipping (presumably to the Far East) when incorrect items are delivered?

Hello everyone, I’m looking for your experiences and opinions on a topic, because I have a few questions I don’t understand, since I can’t make sense of the logic. If someone from ebay is reading along and asks which case?: Case No. 5386995598 Return No. 5328941191 An item was offered on ebay, documented with photos of the goods. After the purchase and delivery, when I unpacked the parcel, I found that I had received the wrong goods, which I had not ordered. I contacted the seller, who stayed silent. Note: This is not a wrong purchase, no mistaken decision in selecting the item, and not my exercise of the right of withdrawal, but rather a complaint about goods delivered incorrectly. After the required waiting period, I involved ebay. The current status is as follows. -Note: I do not have a return label. As the return address, ebay provided me with the following on the same webpage. -Stupid question or does anyone else see it the same way?: Who can spot the two errors here? Here it is to be assumed the seller is based in the Far East, according to a Google search presumably in China, but only presumably China. Something like that cannot be shipped with DHL. Even if it could, then “Return to sender”. For me, that means double shipping costs and the seller keeps my money item / shipping costs. What options are left for me? None except shipping at my own expense .... or I stay silent without providing a shipping number and do not get my money back or receive a replacement item either. Contacting ebay is not possible online in this case / process. Is that the end of it already? No, in the event of non-deliverability, there will be additional costs of around 15.00 for me for the return shipment of the goods I complained about back to me as the sender. Now to my questions: Why do I have to pay the return shipping costs for a complaint identified immediately, even though the mistake here is clearly with the seller? Even if I could ship it, I pay and bear the return shipping costs because of a seller error of 25.49 euros? Why does the seller provide a shipping address on ebay that presumably cannot even be delivered to? Are we being measured by different standards here? -Same seller, same delivery with the above-mentioned goods in a shipping box, and here too the wrong goods were delivered. -The seller was contacted, again there was silence, ebay was involved, the result: a credit without return shipping -Case: Case No. 5386995643 / Return No. 5328941165 Regards Klaus

The payment didn’t go through because of a technical error. The amount has not been refunded yet.

Hello, I submitted this issue on 31/08/2026, but it has not been resolved to this day. I received the following message: Your purchase was canceled. The funds were not refunded to my eBay balance. I am contacting you regarding my order with order number 09-15104-84553. Order details: • Ordered on: 31 August 2026, 06:11 • Order number: 09-15104-84553 Payment attempt: I tried to pay for the item with my eBay balance of EUR 182.00. In addition, a payment via bank account in the amount of EUR 92.13 was attempted. Both payments are marked in the payment information as “Payment failed”: • eBay balance: EUR 182.00 – Payment failed • Payment via bank account: EUR 92.13 – Payment failed The order was therefore not completed / not paid. The funds deducted from my Ebay balance were not refunded to me.

Seller Payouts Blocked – Bank Verification Failed & Trustly Link Not Working

Hello everyone, I am a seller based in Portugal and I am hoping that an eBay mentor or experienced seller can help me with a bank verification problem that has been going on for several weeks. My eBay selling account is working normally and my selling privileges have already been restored after eBay's seller verification. I have successfully sold and delivered items with tracking, and I have no open claims or outstanding seller fees. However, my payouts are currently being held because eBay cannot verify my bank account. I have already tried two different Portuguese SEPA bank accounts. My preferred payout account is with Caixa de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo de Castro Daire CRL, ending in 5051. I also previously tried an account with Caixa Geral de Depósitos, ending in 0059. eBay's verification process involves sending €0.01 to the bank account and subsequently debiting €0.01. This verification has failed. With one of the accounts, the €0.01 credit was received but the subsequent debit failed. My current bank account ending in 5051 appears in eBay under Payments and is marked as “Used for payouts”, but it also shows “Not possible for selling costs.” I have a Visa card ending in 0145 correctly configured as my preferred payment method for selling costs, so I do not need the bank account to pay my normal eBay fees. Nevertheless, eBay apparently still requires the bank account to pass its verification process before my payouts can be released. eBay then sent me an email saying that the €0.01 transfer/debit verification could not be completed and specifically instructed me to link my bank account through eBay's partner Trustly. This is where I have another problem: when I click the “Link bank account” button in that email, Trustly never opens. Instead, eBay redirects me back to exactly the same standard bank verification page asking me to repeat the €0.01 transfer/debit process that has already failed. I have contacted eBay support several times. At different points I was told that: I could verify the bank account by providing an official bank document. A red banner should appear in My eBay allowing me to upload the document. My case would be forwarded internally to a specialist team and I should receive a response within three business days. I should delete/re-enter or add my bank account again. Unfortunately, the document upload option/red banner for uploading documents never appeared. I have checked My eBay, Seller Cockpit/Payments, payout methods, payment information and my personal/account information. I already have recent official bank documents available for both accounts. My personal/tax information on eBay, including my Portuguese tax identification number (NIF), has also been completed. Another difficulty is contacting support. The eBay.de “Call Me” option only offers telephone numbers from Germany (+49), Austria (+43) and Switzerland (+41). I am in Portugal (+351), so I cannot use it. The automated assistant repeatedly sends me back to the same Call Me option even when I explain that I need written assistance. I have now also submitted/sent a formal payment services complaint to eBay S.à r.l. in Luxembourg, including official bank documentation, because my payouts remain blocked. At this stage, what I really need is for eBay to do one of the following: Enable the Trustly verification process correctly on my account; Enable manual bank document verification/upload; Manually review and verify my bank account ending in 5051 (or, if necessary, my alternative account ending in 0059). I do not want to keep deleting and re-adding bank accounts or repeating the same €0.01 verification because this has already failed multiple times and does not address the underlying problem. Has any seller in Portugal or another EU/SEPA country experienced this exact situation? In particular, has an eBay mentor seen a case where the email says to verify through Trustly but the Trustly button simply redirects back to the €0.01 verification page? If a mentor can escalate this or tell me how to reach the correct Payments/Verification team, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you very much for any help. Rui eBay username: dj.hi_17

Change to the Terms and Conditions Payment has been changed - You're now waiting even longer for your money.

Hello dear Ebayers today I'm having the next unpleasant experience, the payment processing has been changed. For an item sold on 14.9., it says - Amount available within 24 hours after delivery! Then I call the hotline for clarification, and the "new" employee wants to tell me that it's always been that way. I say, no, I've been a member for 20 years, this is completely new. He says he has to check. 2 min please - I wait - and he comes back, saying these are Ebay statutes, nothing can be changed about that. Fine then, that means all items I sell privately will only be released for payment once the package has arrived with the recipient. Yes. And if it doesn't arrive, then I take the loss? HMM....... or the recipient claims they didn't get it........... I don't go on for long, I tell the newbie I'm going to close the account. This change came with the last T&Cs change in August and only a few private sellers have noticed so far what Ebay is doing to us. I hope a storm is coming for Ebay and many will then close their accounts. We don't have to bear the risk. Best regards dp_010

Missing payment received in account through eBay

Hello everyone, I hope to find a solution or some advice here in the forum. I initiated a payout on 09/09/2026. As of today (17/09), the money still hasn’t reached my bank account – so 6 business days have already passed. The eBay help bot isn’t any help: it simply refers me to my bank. However, without an incoming amount or a specific transaction/reference number for the payout, my bank really can’t look anything up. On top of that, I’m facing the hurdle that in the help section I’m offered neither a callback option nor a live chat with a human agent. Unfortunately, I’m going round in circles on the help pages completely. The payout status says [Completed]. Bank details/IBAN have been checked and are correct. There are no open cases or notifications. Has anyone recently had similar experiences, or does anyone know which steps currently reliably get you to a real support agent? Thanks in advance for your help!
