Article location changes on its own

Hello, for every item I list via "list similar item," the item location changes from "Duisburg" to "KOLN,NW"

So I change it every time, check it in the finished offer, similar offer, and it's wrong again in the new offer.

The behavior you described regarding the item location is known to us and has already been passed on accordingly. Based on your current feedback, I can also see that the problem seems to have been occurring more frequently again recently.

Until it is fixed, I would recommend that you double-check the displayed item location for newly listed or edited offers as a precaution and, if necessary, correct it manually.

Hi Miriam,

Your recommendation and all due respect. That may well be an option if you're only relisting 10 or 20 offers.

When bulk editing via "Sell similar items", however, the item location field is unfortunately not shown to me in the tabular overview.

In my opinion, editing or viewing the items one by one is unreasonable if there are 100 or more offers.

Could you please ask the specialist department whether, and with which templates, I can check this in the reports?

Hello @petersmodellbahnstuebchen - of course you're right there - with 100 or more listings, checking each one individually isn't a practical solution. I looked into it again, and currently there unfortunately isn't a report in Verkäufer Cockpit Pro that you can use to check or export the item location of your listings in bulk. The only option is to identify listings with missing postal codes and add them, but that doesn't provide a complete location report. So for a larger number of listings, unfortunately I can't currently suggest a sensible workaround for checking them.

Hello Miriam,

the past 2 months have been rough for us.. variant offers broken, listing items impossible, wrong prices, wrong locations. So with all due respect: enough is enough, and the specialist department really needs to get its act together and make sure the basic functions work... We're right on the doorstep of the Christmas season, and we'd like to be able to present ourselves correctly and economically.

We can’t seriously sit down now and manually check and correct thousands of offers... Especially knowing that this could create even more errors or that it might not help at all. For me, it only works if I list a new item and change the item location myself before listing it.

What I forgot: Why isn’t the Top Service logo shown in all of my offers that are eligible? As far as I could check so far, that was almost exclusively the case with the offers where the location was also wrong.

of course we can check and change that every day. It’s not like we have anything else to do.

For something you PAY money for, the service could be a bit better.

There have been quite a lot of PROBLEMS lately (prices wrong, unclear regulations, etc).

I would recommend that the little tinkering hamsters go on vacation for once ...

I’m not aware of any response or fix from Ebay.

However, last week I listed around 400 offers with the VCP using the “Sell similar item” function, both via bulk edit and individual edit. The item location (Grömitz, Germany) was set correctly.

PC with Chrome browser.

Hi Peter,

I can only get it changed if I create a new article and manually change the location there - what surprises me here is that the postal code is actually correct. If I change it afterwards, after a while it jumps back to "DORTMUND, NW".

Not that some AI goes through and deletes the offers we've built up over a long time because the location is wrong...

I just took a look at some of your listings, but everywhere the item location shows Bottrop, Germany.

I myself have about 2500 active and about 2500 inactive listings, and each month I switch 2500 listings as part of the Shop contingent.

All with the "Sell similar item" function. And with my ZIP code, the item location always appears as Grömitz, Germany.

Unfortunately, I can’t understand how the error shows up for you and the others.

Here too? https://www.ebay.de/itm/117397840549 it says Dortmund for me, regardless of browser/device. Also in the tab "Shipping, returns & payment".

That also immediately makes me notice that the top-service logo is missing again. In another example with the correct location, the logo is present. So something is blocking it on eBay or whatever...

Users in the USA are affected too.

Unfortunately, as of today the location is still incorrect for some listings. I can’t go through all the listings. I don’t offer pickup, but it’s still annoying.

And that's permanent? For me, it's only for the time while the listing is being created on eBay's servers. After a few minutes or sometimes hours, the actual location is displayed. Somehow eBay also runs really strangely there; for new listings, the shop logo isn't visible for hours, etc.... Price updates have also been taking a very long time lately...

Unfortunately I can’t identify any patterns; sometimes the problem appears, at other times it doesn’t with other offers, and when reviewing offers created the day before, some are correct and some incorrect. Unfortunately, that’s still the case today. In addition, I had the problem when editing offers that suddenly nonsensical mandatory changes were required, for example an ISBN. Apparently there’s an open ticket about this in the US, according to Reddit.

eBay can't even manage to keep basic functions running. I don't know what they're celebrating over there these days, but whatever it is, it's definitely not moving the platform forward.

Something always has to be changed instead of leaving something that’s running stably alone. But you have that with taxes and legal requirements too (OSS, GPSR, PPWR, etc.)

That because of OSS you have to pay VAT in every destination country instead of in the country of origin? That every item needs precise manufacturer and support information? That you have to front about €13,600 in order to be allowed to ship across the EU?

Each of these measures creates a lot of unnecessary cost and work.

I’m not exactly high on summer, but August is really bad and I suspect it has something to do a bit with the work on the listings. Maybe I’ll restart the listings after the fix. Yesterday it first seemed like the problem wasn’t happening anymore. I don’t have any pickup, so it’s not a big deal for me, but it’s definitely not good if data stays incorrect for so long.

To put it briefly: At eBay, everything that should be making sales happen is currently broken. Start with the search function, it's completely shot. And of course, there are also the lack of consequences for manipulation, fake private sellers, or A-grade goods being sold here via eBay :)

For me it was Dortmund, the location of your ISP/node is displayed - That's so typically eBay...

After some time though it gets updated, because then the eBay account and its settings, including the item location, take effect.

Same problem.

However, nothing gets updated (CORRECTED) automatically there.

I just noticed some articles that I had already posted 2 days ago (on 16/8).

But that’s partly what I meant when I said that some updates are taking a long time on eBay right now. Sometimes prices also take several minutes.

Oh, because I of course corrected it MANUALLY immediately upon learning about it.

eBay's standard response:

"We are already aware of this disruption and are working to eliminate the problem. We assure you that we will fix the disruption as quickly as possible.

We ask you to call up the function again at regular intervals."

I’ve had the same problem for about 1 or 2 days now. (I also have other new technical issues when changing listings that watchers have, but I guess that’s a different issue.)

For me, Leipzig is being shown even though I’m sending from another federal state.

Clearing the cache, switching browsers had no effect, so I’m guessing backend eBay is the cause.

Test listing was correct again only today, then wrong again unfortunately.

I suspect you have active conditions. Check that and delete them if present, because they prevent your entries from being saved.

In the conditions, no item location is set. It also can't be expected of me to re-enter the conditions for over 2000 items because an eBay glitch suddenly claims the items are in "KOLN"

If the location is the same for all items, then only 1 condition would need to be created and assigned to the item.

I can’t set the item location in returns, payment, or shipping either.
