Bidder wants me to delete his bids, auction is still running
Summary: goldeifel inquired about the possibility of canceling bids from a bidder who requested it via email, suspecting manipulative bidding behavior. hasjana confirmed that sellers can indeed cancel bids and suggested blocking the bidder. goldeifel successfully canceled the bids with help from lidor3073, who provided additional guidance and resources. The discussion then shifted to the platform's categorization of discussions as 'questions' and issues with marking them as 'resolved.' goldeifel expressed frustration with this system and communication problems related to notifications.
Hello everyone,
I need some info on whether it is even possible for me (VK) to cancel bids from bidders.
The auction is still running.
The bidder contacted me by email and asked for the bid to be withdrawn, with the following reason:
"Because I think that i+++5 is driving the price up.Because I think that i+++5 is driving the price up. drives. He is slowly but steadily closing in, which is evident is.He is slowly but steadily closing in, which is evident. Especially always the same one. Especially always the same one. Sell to this bidderSell to this bidderFG"
Until now, I was under the impression that only the bidder themself can withdraw bids.
Everything seems pretty strange to me
Thanks in advance

OP1 month agoGood morning @stubenkram and all early risers,
it’s clear to me that you currently can’t mark your own topic as "solved".
That’s why I wrote in my last comment that the question has been answered. Maybe a moderator is reading along and marks it as "solved".
Whether the whole thing is called a topic or a question doesn’t really matter.
Instead of changing labels, the time could have been used, for example, to add the "solved" button.....

No, in principle that is absolutely not all the same. It may be that way for your request here.
There are currently four different topic types in the community. These "types" are called Topic, Question, Idea and Blog. They have different functions, appear in different categories, and can be accessed bundled together in the overview.
If a topic is created as a discussion in a discussion forum, then that discussion should also be classified as a "Topic". But that is no longer the case if all discussions in the community are now suddenly treated as "Questions".
Among other things, this means that this very sensible sorting by Topics and Questions no longer works consistently and will soon become completely obsolete.

·1 month ago · EditedI would have been able to mark the topic that I created as a discussion a few days ago, but which was automatically categorized as a "question", as "solved". So that option was already there. Now it no longer exists.
What purpose it is supposed to serve to classify discussions as questions is incomprehensible to me. Maybe it's just meant to serve "automatic archiving".

OP1 month ago · EditedThe sorting/assignment is, in my opinion, not always possible in an unambiguous way, because depending on the content everything can occur together: both specific questions (general or specific), requests for help, as well as your own ideas.
I think Bevi has different criteria for sorting, they see "questions" as a "subcategory" within "topics"
The "direction" (request for help, question, or idea) is determined by the user themself by entering their text in the title line.
If I remember correctly, there used to initially only be the rough division into
MHM and discussion

·1 month ago · EditedHello @goldeifel
No, Questions and Topics ( topic = discussion) are both "posts" and are listed together under the link All posts . It is currently only possible to create a "topic" in the Café, but no longer in a board like this one.
I suspect that there will still be major changes and restructuring in the community in this regard. They’re already working on it. 😉
Too bad there is no information about it.
If you want to mark this topic here as solved:
For a member, that no longer works in a board like this via your own initial post, but probably like this: Select here in the topic the "most correct answer" you received. In the replies from others, under the "more" button, you’ll see, among other things, the option "Mark as correct answer". The topic should then appear as "Solved".

OP1 month agoHello @stubenkram ,
2 days ago you already replied, sorry that I'm only getting back to you now, I only discovered it by chance. I haven't received any hints / info about your participation. And the "notification" is enabled.
Works brilliantly.
I'll now see whether I can mark the topic as solved according to your instructions (thanks for that).
🤗

·1 month agoThat doesn't matter, @goldeifel
Right now, notifications sometimes arrive late for me, and sometimes not at all.
goldeifel
OP1 month ago · EditedThat kind of thing really bothers me @stubenkram , I think it gives the wrong impression, as if one were being ignorant or uninterested. I really don’t like that at all; after all, the people replying are trying to help / inform.
Thanks again
P.S. I just checked my "info - list" again, and indeed: NOTHING
An info came through about your current reply (twice, in fact)

OP1 month agoOnce again, thank you very much for making the effort and taking the time to reply to me and thus help me as well.
@hasjana + @lidor3073
In theory, the topic could be closed.....
Wishing you a lovely evening
Kind regards
lidor3073
·1 month agoSure, @goldeifel ☺️
But practically speaking, that's impossible 😕
Have a lovely evening as well.

·1 month agoSince August 28, all newly created topics in the discussion forums (with the exception of the new topics in the Café) have the same appearance as the topics in MhM. New topics are no longer labeled and listed as "topics", but as "questions" and have the note "Not solved yet" at the top.
Theoretically and practically you as the topic starter would therefore have been able to mark this topic as "solved", @goldeifel This option is currently (?) no longer available, as I just saw with one of my own topics.
goldeifel
OP1 month agoThanks to you @hasjana , I found the option via "Help" and had the bids deleted. It worked.
The bidder is now going on the block list, nobody needs stuff like that.
Best wishes

Someone just keeps on pushing. How you can cancel bids as a seller was recently already a topic. And then straight onto the block list! Best regards
goldeifel
OP1 month agoYes, thanks @lidor3073 , yes exactly, that’s the item and the deletion worked too. I couldn’t remember how to do it, and the bidder annoyed me with her email. I won’t say anything else here about the impression this person made on me.
The blocklist has been updated
Best regards
goldeifel
OP1 month agothanks @hasjana ,but how does that work please?
can you please help me out.?

·1 month ago@goldeifel
yes, sellers can delete bids - I’d also put that person straight on the bidding blocklist
