Ebay publishes my private sales offer with a sale price 19% higher
Summary: tor34400 reports that eBay is incorrectly showing a price that is 19% higher for an item marked as private sale, even though he is registered as a private seller. A similar case was also reported in the eBay community, where the price was corrected later. tor34400 is looking for advice on how to solve this problem, since he has no experience selling on eBay yet.
I am registered on eBay explicitly as a private seller and have listed item 168756256165 with a sale price of €450.00. In the confirmation email from eBay, my price of €450.00 is also confirmed. Under “Edit offer,” too, only a price of €450.00 is stored; there is no VAT information there. On the public item page, however, a price that is exactly 19% higher is displayed, and the note “incl. VAT” is additionally shown. But I am a private seller and have not specified any sales tax or VAT.
In the eBay community, an almost identical case was already reported a few days ago, in which 19% was incorrectly added to the entered listing price for a private seller and the price was then corrected by eBay. Can anyone help me with this? I’ve never sold anything on eBay before and have no idea who to contact...

·1 week agoThat's because of the description. VAT applies to DLCs - also for private sellers.
The AI recognizes the "Fortnite..." part as DLC and therefore automatically charges the 19%.
If necessary, just leave that part out and only mention PlayStation 5 in the title. That might help.
