Brilliant trick or just bad luck?
Summary: big-brother_2007 reported a problem with a buyer from the Netherlands who did not pick up a package, even though it had been shipped. The buyer claimed not to have received any notification and opened a case with eBay, which was decided in the buyer’s favor. As a result, the buyer received a full refund, and the package was returned to big-brother_2007. big-brother_2007 then decided to stop shipping to the EU. Other participants agreed that it was a smart decision to avoid similar problems. Discussions about country exclusions in shipping transactions were also held.
Very briefly: item sold to a buyer in NL, shipping label bought on eBay, sent with DHL Parcel on 22/6,
tracking says: buyer did not pick up the parcel after the storage period expired.
Buyer denies having received a notification.
Parcel arrived back with me on 2/7, on the return slip is checked " Not picked up - Non reclame"
In my WhatsApp group, the suspicion is that the buyer may have bought the item cheaper somewhere else.
Buyer opens a case "Item not received", within 4 hours eBay decides, buyer gets the
full purchase price incl. shipping costs back.
My consequence: from now on no more shipping to the EU, so also no 5% commission for eBay.

Your decision not to ship internationally anymore in the future is right and smart.
However, the whole thing turned out relatively "harmless" for you. At least you got your goods back, although given the tracking history it is of course not understandable that the buyer should also get the shipping costs refunded. Did you file an appeal against the decision at EBAY?
It’s not your problem if the shipment isn’t picked up...
Did you also have to pay for the return shipping?
By harmless outcome, I meant that quite a few overseas sales end up with the buyers having both the money and the goods in the end; there are some tricky tactics... in the event of a case being opened by the buyer, it is always the Ebay organization with which they are registered that decides.

·3 weeks agoGood decision! Then you also have to exclude all countries, you haven't done that yet with your ongoing articles. I excluded everything on my end too. You can take a look.
BTW, a really lousy trick to avoid problems abroad, I also carried out a complete country exclusion.
