Set request total amount

Hello, I’d like to set it up so that buyers of multiple items can request a total amount before payment.

In the settings, invoice requests are set to Allowed. But buyers can’t request anything, or they don’t see the feature with me. Where can I set this?

The instructions are unfortunately rubbish, thanks for the help.

You can't send the buyer an "offer" for purchasing multiple items. The buyer has to buy the item, but not pay directly through checkout. If you offer combined shipping, (you have already set this up) you can send the buyer a total invoice after the purchase.

Putting an item in the cart is not enough to reserve it.

If I’m correctly informed, for fixed-price items the checkout has to be completed right when the item is purchased (so payment is made immediately). Otherwise, the purchase is not "registered" and is not binding or reserved for the parties involved (and EBAY).

And this applies regardless of whether the seller has set up the "immediate payment" function or not.

Even in a possible purchase from @modelle_2025 , I wouldn’t have any other choice than either to pay immediately or "add to cart".

Or have I missed something?

As I see it, you listed your items with "Buy It Now." Unfortunately, EBAY changed something there. When buyers buy something from you, they have to pay immediately, even if there are several items. They can no longer request a "total amount." You only have the option of having EBAY refund the excess shipping costs; likewise any possible quantity discount.

One solution is for such buyers to first put the items they bought into their cart. Then they can request the total amount. After that, you can create a combined invoice (with adjusted shipping costs). The buyer can then pay the total amount. Unfortunately, most buyers don't know this and don't read any corresponding notes in the item description either.

However, it may be possible that another customer snatches up such an item in the meantime and pays immediately. Whoever pays first gets the item (EBAY logic).

Hello Manfred, this is exactly the situation. When a customer puts several items in the cart and then wants to request the total amount. I have this option, and I can't find any setting where it changes.

I’ve already read here that app users don’t have this function for requesting the total amount. Why? A bug in the app? When shopping through a browser, it also works on a phone for sure.

You can’t change any of the preset settings. Unfortunately!

Maybe a mentor could also “tag” an EBAY employee who might have a different idea.
