Hello everyone,I’m currently facing a challenge with a private sale and would really like to hear your opinion, as this is a technical understanding issue that often overwhelms eBay support processes.I sold an AdBlue tank as a complete replacement parts set, stating the correct Peugeot overall part number, which was also shown that way on the original packaging and in my photos. Now the buyer wants to return the item because a different number is printed on the tank’s plastic housing.However, this number on the housing is only the internal part number for the raw component (individual part), while the number on the packaging describes the assembly ID (the entire set incl. pump/wiring harness). In automotive engineering, this distinction is standard, but it regularly causes confusion for laypeople.Although as a private seller I effectively excluded any warranty and the delivered part exactly matches the assembly ordered, eBay is now classifying this as “item differs from description.”How do you handle cases like this? Do you have any tips on how to make buyers (and support) more effectively aware of this technical reality so that such unfounded return requests don’t even escalate in the first place?Thanks a lot for your assessment!
