Buyer claims error
Buyer receives a camera from me that has been checked before shipping, inserts an SD card, and finds that it cannot be formatted, examines the slot, and discovers a bent contact. That can happen if you try to force the card in the wrong way around. Buyer complains and wants a refund. What now?

OP2 weeks agonow the camera is here, the card can be formatted without any problems and saves photos. So the buyer just made up a reason because returns were excluded. What now? Am I stuck with the postage costs?

Who’s supposed to collect them for you if not you yourself? For eBay, the matter is settled.

·2 weeks agoSince you definitely can't prove what you're claiming there, you should comply with what @*sweet-melody* is writing, because if eBay gets involved there will be even more problems.

Well, I can only tell you what I would do in such a case.
I would comply and send him a return label,
before eBay does it.
Then I would take a close look at the camera and maybe take further steps,
if the damage to the camera was caused by his carelessness.

OP2 weeks agoThanks, I also came to the conclusion of sending a return label. What annoys me is that there’s no support from eBay; at best I’ll get 50% back or be left footing the return shipping costs. Sunny times too ;)

·2 weeks agoYou'll naturally be stuck with the return postage; who would reimburse that?
And even if the buyer was only making excuses and everything works correctly, ebay won't really help. At best, you might be allowed to deduct the return postage from the refund, but beforehand they will probably require clear proof that the camera does in fact work perfectly.
Unfortunately, there’s no remedy for buyers like that.
