Does eBay actually arrange shipping for authenticity verification?
Summary: roter_rauch inquired whether eBay provides a shipping label for private sellers to send items for authenticity verification, as they were previously under the impression that sellers had to manage this themselves. vera@ebay confirmed that sellers are responsible for sending items to the authenticity check, while eBay handles the shipping to the buyer post-verification. perfect-sally suggested that an eBay employee would provide the most reliable answer, and vera@ebay, identified as Vera from eBay, responded to clarify the process.
Hello,
my understanding of the authenticity check so far was that the seller is (of course) responsible for shipping to the authenticators — so logically, they find a shipper & buy a label that
a) also includes, for example, shipping of expensive jewelry/precious metals and
b) liability for a goods value usually well above €500.
That rules out almost all of the usual shippers.
So far, so clear.
Private sellers then just have to book a specialized jewelry and valuables shipper and that’s that.
In another thread, the statement came up several times that eBay would provide private sellers with a label for the authenticity check / outbound shipping after the sale has been completed. I had always understood it to mean that eBay only takes care of forwarding to the buyer after the check (which somehow also makes sense).
Is it actually true that eBay provides the shipping label for the outbound shipment to the check? I would really welcome that, but I can’t imagine it.
Has anyone here actually used this already, does it really exist or only under certain conditions?
Here’s the thread in which this possibility was mentioned:

·1 week agoHello @roter_rauch ,
Many thanks for your contribution. It is correct that the seller sends the item for authenticity verification and eBay sends the item from there to the buyer.
@perfect-sally many thanks for marking 😊
Kind regards

@vera@ebay could you take a look please? Thanks
