Private sale: eBay simply adds 19% VAT to the price!? What’s that about?
Summary: koala418 had trouble with a VAT being suddenly added to an eBay listing that was posted at a fixed price. Despite having a private account and a long history of use, koala418 asked for an explanation. perfect-sally asked for the item number so an eBay employee could check the issue. nina@ebay, an eBay representative, explained that it can take up to 24 hours to appear and asked for details about the VAT problem. In the end, the price was displayed correctly, and koala418 decided to wait until the item shows up in search.
I listed a used item at a fixed price, and eBay is simply adding 19% VAT to the price. That has never happened to me before. I've had a private account for 25 years, and I only sell used things of mine occasionally.
So why is VAT suddenly being added here?
In addition, the listing (posted today at 12:00) still can't be found in search, but the listing is shown as active as "Your item is for sale". What is going wrong at eBay today?

It can take up to 24 hours for a listed item to appear in search. Please be a little patient for now.
