Shipment status for one tracking number and two orders updated only once
Summary: lidor3073 encountered an issue with the shipment tracking on eBay, where two items shipped in one package under the same tracking number weren't correctly updated in the system. I know that the tracking in the system lags behind, but I sent two items in one package with the same tracking number and one item was also marked as “delivered”. The buyer was also very eager and paid shipping 2 x right away, so then, because I couldn’t create another invoice anymore, I refunded the shipping costs proportionally, selected a larger package, and changed / adjusted the tracking numbers accordingly.
Now the system still shows order 24-14937-63252 as “shipped”, order 01-14968-88437 is already “delivered”. Doesn’t make sense to me.
Could you please check this once and, if necessary, adjust it manually? Hermes tracking number delivered is available.

Hello @lidor3073 - I just took another look at it and in the meantime the shipping service is listed as Hermes parcel and the delivery is displayed correctly.
So I'm glad that everything could be clarified in the meantime. Feel free to leave resolved topics up for posterity too - you don't need to have them deleted, because they can also be helpful for other members in the future and show the value of our group/community! 🤗

The shipment tracking cannot be transferred correctly because DPD was entered as the shipping provider instead of Hermes.
If you click "Edit" next to the tracking number in the purchase details, you can change the shipping service to Hermes. The status should then be updated automatically within 24 hours.

I’ve now changed it under “Edit” and entered Hermes Germany.
But I’ll take the chance here to suggest that maybe the system could be optimized from smart to really smart, so that it also recognizes the correct shipping provider and doesn’t make a guess at the last minute.

asked if she could send the goods to a Hermes shop for me, because she hadn’t taken into account the latest price increase for Hermes home delivery
...I had no objection to that....when I looked at the tracking status at some point and
wanted to open the tracking info: yep, what do I read there? Shipped with DPD, no tracking available, as the tracking number has already been used.
But since I was absolutely sure that my seller shipped it with Hermes on time, I just rolled my eyes and waited. Then the message came that my parcel could be picked up at the Hermes shop...you get used to this sort of thing over the years....but how can something like that happen? No clue....

I understand the connection, it just seems contradictory to me, and eBay seems to assign tracking numbers to the correct shipping provider only by random generator…. If anything, it should work properly - but which system is perfect? 😏🫣

·1 week agoThis happens when you change or enter the number yourself, and with a Hermes number DPD appears as the service provider, and that has to be changed before saving.
I have to do that every time, to switch it to Hermes.

OP1 week agoThen urgent work should be done to ensure that such errors can't happen in the system and that the “random generator” doesn't strike again.

·1 week agoThe problem has existed for a long time and eBay only says that the numbers of both service providers are too similar.
As I said, I don’t create my labels on eBay and enter the number manually, and every time DPD comes up and I have to change it.
If labels are created via eBay, that should not happen and should be reported.

OP1 week agoI also don’t create the labels through eBay for good reason and enter them manually as well - or rather, I copy them to avoid transposed numbers, etc. May the system not assign supposedly similar numbers to another service provider - that would be great.

·1 week agoThen please make sure to also adjust the service provider in the future. I've been doing that since you have to pay for labels on eBay with credit, and for me it’s already an automatic step to rename it straight away before saving.

OP1 week agoAs a rule, I also pay attention to that. Unfortunately, I do everything on my phone (app/browser). So, as now, it can unfortunately happen that the page is unstable and/or shifts out of place.
I don't want to rule out that it was my carelessness or that it was overlooked in the rush because the buyer paid too eagerly. Anything's possible. Please just take note that, as is well known, internet connections here in Germany aren't really good. And I already have a good phone.

OP1 week agoI marked both items with the tracking number. I first had a different one, but because of the additional purchase I had to generate a new tracking number, since I took a larger box (Hermes S instead of Hermes parcel before). But I changed the tracking number for both items.
