eBay seller protection for postal shipping with matrix code
Hello, dear community!
Can someone explain to me exactly how eBay seller protection works for letter shipments with matrix code (bought via eBay) or exactly how I, as the seller, have to proceed so that it applies?
Background: for the first time now, I have the case where a customer claims not to have received a shipment - despite the status from Deutsche Post saying "Shipment goes into delivery on ...".
Thanks in advance for your help!

OP2 days agoHello everyone,
I’m aware of the disadvantages of this basic shipment tracking - but I use it because of the seller protection promised by eBay.
I just don’t know how the process works: should I refund the buyer myself and then apply for seller protection?
Or: wait for the deadline, then contact eBay (but what happens if the buyer does that first)?
Unfortunately, the procedure isn’t documented anywhere by eBay.
Have a nice Sunday, everyone!

actually, the item is shown as delivered as soon as it is scanned at the delivery center, because the post then assumes that it will (likely) be delivered in x days
I regularly have it that the article says that I supposedly already received the shipment, even though the postal notification says "arrives in 2 days"

·3 days agoWith "Shipment goes into delivery on ..." the buyer can't really do anything if they haven't received the item within the specified delivery period.
That's always the problem with basic tracking, there's no real proof of delivery.

If the goods incl. shipping do not exceed €20, you have seller protection, best to contact eBay customer service.
please see link in the seller portal:

·3 days ago · EditedI just had the case where a Maxi letter didn’t arrive, the first time this has happened to me so far; otherwise everything always arrived reliably. I refunded the buyer’s money. Can I only claim seller protection through customer service, or does eBay have a function where I can request the money back?
