Hermes just doesn't pick up XL packages
Summary: felsenschulter reported repeated problems with a shipping provider, as parcels that were supposed to be sent as "Hermes XL parcel" or "Hermes XXL parcel" were not picked up at home. Despite repeated inquiries and constant assurances from the shipping provider, no pickup took place, so sales had to be canceled. Another participant recommended clarifying the problem directly with the provider.
Hello!
I’d like to share my annoying experience with Hermes shipping:
I had created several listings for items for sale where, because of the size and/or weight, the best shipping option was “Hermes XL package” or “Hermes XXL package.” For these packages, home pickup is included in the price, and there isn’t even the option to drop them off yourself at a Hermes shop. When the first item was sold, I filled out the parcel label accordingly at myHermes and waited for pickup. Although someone was home 24/7, Hermes never came to collect it, and repeated inquiries by email and phone didn’t help; they just kept promising that it would be picked up the next day. At the Hermes shop, they tried to hand it over to the parcel collector there, but he said he wasn’t allowed to take it and that things like that are picked up from home. So I had to cancel the sale.
At first I thought they were just having temporary problems, but with the next sale a few weeks later it was the same again. Nobody picked up the package, there was no explanation at all, just constant promises that it would happen the next day.
The problem is that other shipping providers charge a lot more for these packages. If I had known that shipping via Hermes wasn’t possible at all, I wouldn’t have listed the items in the first place.
Anyone else had similar experiences?
Best wishes!

·1 month agoXL and XXL is unfortunately sometimes a challenge with Hermes.
The best thing is if you know the Hermes driver and can discuss it with him.
Often these packages aren't even picked up by the regular driver for the route, because the drivers have packages piled up to the roof for delivery and don't even have the space in the car; in those cases it's external contractors who come by (should)
When we were "still small" Hermes also picked up from us and there were regular problems that there wasn't enough space in the car and the driver came by again on the return trip to load up, but back then we had daily regular pickups.
As annoying as it is, call Hermes again, and maybe also ask whether the regular driver picks it up or an external company is commissioned.
Good luck !
